Default Good area to raise kids?

I would like to move, but don't know where to. I want to live in the south where there is honest southern hospitality. I want neighbors to best friends that last a life-time. I want a good place to raise kids - I have a teen-ager and a 10 year old. Good schools, low crime, etc. I'd like a neighborhood grocery store - or at least a store within walking distance that I can get a loaf of bread and milk at. I would like to have a body of water - lake, river, ocean, whatever- that is fairly close to home. I want an old-time feeling with shade trees and sidewalks, and people sitting on the front porch that you can have a bit of a conversation with as you take your kids on a walk in the neighborhood. I want the neighborhood to look nice -enough - not a junkyard next door, but not community rules to the point that they measure your grass and give you a ticket for not keeping your grass a certain height. I do home daycare - and want to open a home daycare where I move - so, there would need to be enough people locally with young kids that have a need for child care. I am a single mother - so things have to be afordable too!

Thanks!

I suggest 1oo years ago? LOL. Sorry, but I wish those morals and respect for adults and parent still existed and they did back then. Going off of what my great grandparents told me.

Yeah I was looking for an answer to this too. I need the same kind of place. Its really sad what this world has come to. Good luck to everyone and hopefully we can all find somewhere that still has values and morals. =)

hmmm...well since it has been almost a year and no one has given a suggestion to this one, I'll throw one out there.
Kingsport in the the Fair Acres area which is just behind and really part of the downtown. It is pricey but fits what the OP described.
