Wagner Brothers
We received their info as did our neighbors. They went up there to meet with Jimmy (the retired doctor) and loved the area..but it was a lot more than anything in the surrounding area. It is also very rural there in Dunlap.
They decided on Grande Vista Bay in Watts Lake area. We decided on Crossville homestead area but did not want more than 1 acre..we have more than that now and cant wait to leave!! They purchased 6 3/4 acres. We dont want the homeowners association, they love it.
Bottom line is.. go ahead and look at the area and see what they have to offer with Wagner brothers. Go on realtor.com and see if you can find land you want for less in the area but you wont have the parks and clubhouse etc.

Dunlap
Dunlap is the picture of Mayberry USA! I will never forget the first time I drove down Rankin Ave and a old man in overalls was sitting on a bench in front of the post office whittleing! I love the fact that the finest dining establishment in town is a Knock Off of a Waffle House! The Walmart is cute. Its like a Kid that try's to act all grown up despite his unavoidable smallness! It is quaint, and charming place that warms the heart of big city dwellers!

I personally hated living outside of Dunlap but that was a long time ago and it has grown some, the new school they have is a big improvement and the road over Signal Mountain and all that growth is amazing. We had 16 acres across the street from the Brags farm and the Higdons place. I believe when we sold it it was developed into a trailer park. Have they developed any of Daws Mountain?

Dunlap Restaurants
Hey, we have some really nice restaurants in Dunlap. The Waterhouse opened over a year ago. Its not on the main drag - Rankin Ave. Their menu has a great selection of fish (pecan crusted grouper is my favorite), pasta dishes and steaks. I often take business clients there. We also have the Cookie Jar (featured in Southern Living Mag) about 2 miles East of Dunlap. A really good mexican restaurant opened last year. Two new B-B-Q places have opened and new management at the Chinese restaurant (buffet with all you can eat crab legs, brought to your table, not just placed on the buffet).
Actually, in a town of about 6,000, I counted over 20 restaurants. I enjoy the slow pace and the friendly community. I am sad to report that we lost our BI-Lo grocery store (WalMart fatality).

Has anyone ever had Carlyles potato logs!
I have been told they are bringing in a Ryans? Is this true? Rumor is that they are building it next to Save-A-Lot?

Ha ha..Is that restaurant called Cuddle House or something like that? I ate several meals there while I was helping my friend get his home ready for the family to move in. I loved the restaurant. The people were friendly and the food was pretty darn good. Dunlap is a nice little town.
I looked at some of the Wagner property while I was there. It was kind of pricey (for me) but the communites that that Jimmy is putting together really seem to be top notch. My main concern was that all of the lots were "view" lots and that always translated to "steep, with no flat spots". If I wanted a place on the mountain, I would have considered buying one of his lots.

The Wagners
Those people are really nice and have a genuine love for the area. The communities are beautiful but comparativly, they are a bit pricey as well as being far away from it all which I guess could be a good thing.
Jimmy is a physician. Left practicing medicine to develop the land.

My wife and I are considering moving to TN for numerous reasons (a big one being to take care of aging family), but we are used to living in a town of 4,000 that is 70 miles from the next town of 5,000, and we don't like congestion.
Pros and cons of Dunlap? Are there good jobs without traveling to Chattanooga? Do city problems migrate out to Dunlap? Can a specialty business draw business from Chattanooga? (I make stained glass windows.) Are there a bunch of people driving around with thumping stereos? How is the high school?
