PUTNAM COUNTY -- As in Mayberry, the "criminals" in Putnam County are not always people. Sometimes they are just ornery animals.
That was the case last Friday when a 500-pound pig got into trouble by vandalizing a store and "rooting at the door," causing a woman clerk to be afraid, law officers said. It happened just after 1 p.m. Feb. 22 at Frenchman's store on Burgess Falls Road, says a report by Putnam Sheriff's Deputy Chris Brown, who is an animal control officer.
