There is a possibility that I may be moving to that area soon Chaboot, you do not sound like you have anything good to say there. Would it be a disaster for a single guy to move to Camden. I will try t watch for your reply here.

Since I haven't seen Chaboot around much lately, I'll try to answer your question. Camden is more than a little out in the boonies (which there is nothing wrong with by itself); it's very small and there's not much in the way of employment opportunities and things to do (other than nature, there's lots of that there). If you move to Camden, what are you going to do?

Default Camden is ok

Come on guys, Camden isn't that bad. There isn't much to do there or many jobs. BUT, there is the lake and we are 1 hr from Jackson (mall), 2 hrs. from Memphis and Nashville. There are jobs in Paris, New Johnsonville and Waverly. Don't come here looking for a wild time and lots of money. If you want a nice place to live CHEAP! This is a great place to raise a family.

Default Camden is a joke

The unemployment rate is a wopping 12%. I see to many able bodies walking around collecting welfare which hints at the generally poor level of integrity that the populace has. To many sleeveless shirts with tattoo arms and meth head scanks relative to the population size. This town ranks in as one of the dumbest towns I've lived in. Although, if your not to picky about your woman you can easily be a playboy in this town. Buy a dodge ram and put the largest tires you can fit on the truck and play gangster rap as loud as you can and take a drive around sonic and McDonalds. You'll have lots of scanks to your picking. Its of no surprise getto rap is so popular in this town. The town is classless.
Don't get me started on the the christians and the retired kooks.

Red face christophchristoph

Dude, why don't you leave? I moved here from Gainesville, FL about 13 months ago. GO THERE!!!! You can get lost in the influx of college students.

As for tattoos and methheads...you gotta be kidding and the retired folk? Dammit man, you got nothing good to say, why bother. Is this your "venting place"? Try a Primal Scream...out your back door...maybe you'll get picked up and TAKEN away.

Nope, there's not a LOT of work here...and there area lot of druggies...but that is everywhere. You live in the Great United States of America where we are free to be....my Gawd, christopchristoph, getta grip.

Camden is a LITTLE town. If you were born here and don't like it, MOVE. If you moved here and don't like it, MOVE. I think it's a great little place to bring up children...and there are still a lot of TREES and LAKES and the magnificent TENNESSEE RIVER.......look around. Put a smile on your face instread of a snarl and you might find some good here. if you don't, the MOVE!

Not everyone wants to live in the city. I hate cities and crowds, why on earth would I want to live in one? I'm not a shopper and rarely go to the malls.
I grew up in a town of 500 and hope to find the same in Tennessee. My hubby comutes 51 miles one way to work here, and he doesn't mind doing the same in TN. I hated my hometown when I was growing up because it was "boring". Well, guess what all teens feel that way at some point. I'd move there in a heartbeat if we could afford it...but living on the coast here is not affordable anymore.
I don't think we will be moving to Camden as its not in the area we prefer, but you never know.
This country started out as small town, usa, and many of us like it that way.
