If you live in Tennessee or plan to visit Tennessee and are looking for a place to visit, may I recommend a Sunday morning at Ft Loudoun State Historic Park? I arrived around 8:40A. The park opens at 8:00A. Let me tell you why Sunday morning.

1) Visitors didn't start arriving at the fort in large numbers until after 11:30A so that means a lot of good photos with just re-enactors (not sure if that's the proper term) in them, not visitors/tourists. The re-enactors (men, women and children) had apparently spent the night in the fort.

2) They invited me and the 3 other morning visitors there to participate in Sunday morning services outdoors with the re-enactors. (I, uh, wasn't wearing my 1750's outfit but enjoyed the period Sunday service just the same.)

I also got to see the colors/raising of the flag (England - remember this is French and Indian War era or pre-Revolutionary War days) and as the crowds started to come in, they were about to do an artillery drill, I believe.

The park also has picnic grounds and a public fishing pier (it's surrounded by water). They have a nice visitors center. Saw a number of boats on the water and a lot of bluebirds.

I passed the entrance for Rarity Bay Golf Course on the way there so I assume the master planned community for Rarity Bay is in the area, as well.

Mapquest directions were perfect, if you plan to visit.

I'll post 3 photos to give you a small sample but I took a ton more.

The photo in the post above this one is the unit coming back from raising the flag.

The man in black in the photo below is the preacher.

This is one shot from the Sunday Service:

I just want to add that you may want to check the event schedule before you go.
