Can anyone confirm or deny a report I saw stating that Shelbyville is home to a training ground for terrorists?

Really hope this isn't true.

Can you link the report? Shelbyville seems like it would be a very inhospitable place for terrorists.

From what I hear, they have taken over a Tyson processing plant and behead dozens of God-fearing, red blooded American chickens on a daily basis.

It's an old story based on fear of all the Somali Muslims hired to work at the Tyson chicken plant.

WTVF did a story on it a couple of years ago.

The FBI is on it.

Just to address a small snippet of the "article":

"The recent influx of Somali and Iraqi Kurds by the Obama Administration into the Murfreeboro area has surely spawned this reported terrorist camp activity. Dumping 60,000 plus into a rural area will definitely harbor criminal and terroristic activity in TN and across the USA."

This is absolute crap.

First of all, there has not been a "recent" influx of Somali and Iraqi Kurds (sic). Somalis and Iraqi Kurds are two very, very different ethnic groups, and not in any way allies, even through religion.

Iraqi Kurds have been immigrating to Nashville since the late 70s. The last major influx came around the time of the Gulf War. Nashville is home to the largest Kurdish community in the country, with approximately 11,000 residents. That's Nashville, not Murfreesboro. Somalis, as well as other African refugees, are also present in Nashville (primarily on the SE side of town), but their numbers aren't as great.

This paragraph suggests that 60,000 refugees were "dumped" into a rural area (Murfreesboro? Rural?). You can't dump 60,000 people into an area, and call it rural. Not in America.

Murfreesboro has seen near breakneck growth in the last 10 years. From 2000-2010, it grew from 68,000 to 108,000. That's 40,000 people in 10 years. The majority of them white. You think dumping 60,000 ethnic minorities into a region like that would somehow go unnoticed? It's beyond preposterous. It's a flat out fabrication. Shelbyville itself only has 20,000 residents.

The kicker is that this is somehow tied to the Obama administration, the ultimate boogeyman. Listen, I'm not a fan of the guy, but the number of idiotic things that are attributed to him blows my mind. The vast majority of Kurdish immigration occurred well before Obama took office! If you want to blame any organization for bringing refugees to Nashville, then blame Catholic Charities, not Obama.

I hope you don't take it personally, but websites like that (with a subcaption of "all islam muslims living in usa terrorists") are meant to prey on your fears. They are in no way legitimate, and despite what you may or may not think of mainstream media, they are much less trustworthy. There is honesty way, way too much stuff out there being passed off as news that doesn't have one ounce of journalistic integrity attached to it. The source, "Bradley County News" is a tin foil hat blog.
