They didn't include Cumberland Caverns in Warren County - or perhaps in Van Buren County. You have to take a side road and I don't know if that road hops the river before you get to the entrance, so I'm not sure exactly what county it's in, but I know it's one of the two. It's a great place though!

East, Middle, and West are official and legal definitions known as "the Three Grand Divisions". It's also why there's three stars on the Tennessee state flag.

On some state commissions, there has to be one member from each of the three Grand Divisions.

And another bit of flag trivia, if you look at a Tennessee state flag, you'll notice that the stars are rotated slightly so that no one star is atop the others . . . this is to signify that none of the three Grand Division is more important than the others.

JoAnn5 is on a distinguished road
I had forgotten that about the state flag and the 3 stars.... Thanks, alleycat, for that information.... Seems that things like that mean more to us as we get older than when we were learning it in our youth...lol..

Tinman.... i believe Tennessee has honeycombs of caves underneath most of it.... I know there was one old sinkhole near us that legend says a mule fell into years ago when the farmer was plowing too near it. The farmer tried many ways to get the mule out unsuccessfully. Finally the poor old mule walked away and they couldn't call it back. The farmer figured it had wandered off and gotten lost in the cave and would probably die there. Days later, it emerged many miles away from the mouth of another cave, unhurt.

Recently, the state has 4-laned hwy 64 very near the same old sinkhole. I've always worried that that cave system was underneath there and might someday lead to a cave-in. Sure enough, just a few months after the road was built, even before traffic was allowed on it, 2 new sinkholes appeared on the sides of the road. TDOT just put fences around them and carried on. :S
