Crossville
Could anyone give me some info on the job market in and around Crossville? We are thinking of moving to the area and really don't know much as we live in the northeast at the present.
I just absolutely love Tenn. and want to spend the rest of my life in a friendly, neighborly area, I would greatlly appreciate any and all info about the crossville area.
thank you
Jude

Not sure what field you will be working in, but as the city grows rapidly, so will jobs. Many will not be high-paying though. The medical field is pretty hot, as there are lots of older people living in the area. The Cumberland Medical Center is a good hospital. There are likely quite a few administrative assistant type positions in town. I don't know if they are hiring, but Crossville Ceramics has two factories in town. They produce very expensive ceramic and porcelain tile. I think industry in general is growing in the area, due to cheap land and taxes and I-40 running through the city.

There are much better employment opportunities in the Knoxville area. There are actually a few hardy souls who commute from Crossville to Knoxville, but I sure wouldn't recommend it.

My husband is an Auto and Motorcycle Mechanic and small engine repair, I've been a heavy equip operator, but am retiring from that..I have extensive training in the glass arts(stained glass-engraving-carving-and mosaics) This has been my secondary job for about 30 years...
Do you know of a site that I could find more info about Crossville?
thank you for your help too..

have you tried crossville.com
I know the small engine repair shops stay busy.
With all the retirees in the area stain glass classes may do well and you could check into the TTU craft center near center hill. It would be a bit of a drive from crossville tho.

Our friend who lives in crossville does this commute each day. I think he said it's a little over an hour, but he works, like, 4 p.m. to midnight or something like that so traffic isn't an issue. Crossing into a different time zone twice a day would make me nuts though...
But he makes twice the money he could around crossville so ya do what ya gotta do I guess.

Cookeville to Crossville commute
there might be more opportinity in Cookeville if you wanted to live in Crossville then cookeville is not an unreasonable commute. That can be an option.
It seems many of the people in Crossville do a number of things in order to make a living. Such as realtor and have a cleaning service on the side to clean the houses etc..
The salary does not compare to up north. Not sure where you are coming from . Good luck and let us know how you do and what you decide.
