I love Mystery Mine!!! I've ridden it at least ten times. I like the wooden coaster beside it, too, but I always forget its name.
Dollywood is good, especially the first few times. The last few years, though, they keep making improvements yearly, so I keep going back!! The best time to go, though, IMHO, is during the international festival. This year I think it's the Germans that are the "hosts."

Tinman, I love Dollywood. I grew up thinking that Disneyworld was the holy grail. Went to it once, as a kid. Went a several times as a Florida resident.
I like Dollywood so much more.
Bear in mind that it is nothing like Disneyworld. It is so different. It is very well landscaped. It has some nice rides and lots of wonderful country shows. The food is decent, especially for a theme park.
You should visit. It is very lovely.

Festivals: Dollywood
URL for the Festival of Nations. I see the Peruvians aren't coming back this year evidently; too bad. I had a nice chat with them last year (in Spanish, not Nahuatl!) and bought a really cool doll. But I'm glad to see the Russian National Theater is back (amazing!!!) and Atahualpa as well. Nice dancing music.

I have only been there once, but we loved it. We were there during the Festival of Nations and enjoyed that very much. So much to see and do. As soon as we move, we plan to buy season passes so we can go often. Grandson calls the money in his piggybank, his "Dollywood money". He is anxious to go check it out.

I haven't seen the Festival of Nations, yet, and missed last year's, which was hosted by Ireland, due to illness. We haven't tried Mystery Mine, either, because we didn't go at all last year.
We got season passes the second year we were here, and even though we got them in August, it was well worth it. I'm considering getting them this year.

As an avid Roller Coaster geek (I even moderate on a roller coaster forum) I can say that Dollywood is a different kind of park.
Dollywood doesn't have a huge number of rides like you'd see at most amusement parks, but, you get a LOT more available non-ride entertainment. ( You have to stop and see David Tallent's magic show!)
It's a very clean park, and the staff is very friendly. Thunderhead is consistently rated near the top wooden coasters, and deservedly so. Mystery Mine turned out to be (for me) a very overachieving coaster. The theming is fantastic and adds a LOT to the ride.
Be sure to take the train ride, too.
I always have mixed emtoions when I'm at Dollywood. I love parks and coasters, but I love hiking in the Smokies a LOT more. When we were on the train, the conductor pointed out Mt LeConte, and I remember thinking that I'd much rather be hiking Mt LeConte than at Dollywood.
