Spring projects
Just keepin it light for a change and I am curious as to what kinds of spring projects folks have planned or going this year?
Between bulldozing, rebuilding the driveway and parking area, cutting down enough trees to build a cabin, getting a couple of 50lb sacks of seed put down, planting some more fruit, nut, and barrier trees, bushes, and ground cover, reorganizing several tons of flat stone for knee walls and steps, and some tree boxes made from rail ties is on the top of my list. Looks like the back yard and the cleaning of the shed will have to wait a few weeks...
I know I feel like a mashed cat that has been in a room full of rockin chairs all day as I have been hard at it and haven't made a dent yet, ugh...

I got 50 plus 20 pounds of seed a couple of days ago and 2/3's done. Then it snowed...
Do you have a problem with moles ¿ I've got them everywhere.....
I want to get the small barn painted, finish the pole barn/garage/shop metal siding. My top project is to put up foamboard and pine tung and groove boards over the logs in the master bedroom and bath (coldest rooms in the house - farthest from woodstove). Might put in new windows along with the boards. Then I have many small things to get done around here.
#1 on the list is to relax more and enjoy the day......

Our only spring project is moving out of the frozen tundra to the warmth of the south.

HA, I will relax when I'm dead. Actually, I enjoyed a really strong cup of coffee under an oak tree on my pond to unwind. My body is really spent and I am whooped.
I have a terrible problem with moles here as well. The hounds do a fair job of digging them up but then make their own mess in doing so.. can't win.
Are you using wood from Lowes or a builders supply or from the mill? Tell ya a great lil place to get some wood milled is up just outside of Jamestown at Tallent mills. I build a 44x12' deck for my front and framed it all in 5-6 year old maple 6x6 that is HARD as nails and cost less than a 4x4 at lowes. I picked up 16-4x6, 12' cedar post for 200 bucks. purdy wood too. (be sure to pay in cash, its better)
If anyone comes across some Paw Paw trees for sale semi-locally, let me know because I had to order some twigs from Oregon and I'm not sure how well they will fare.

He he, Tallent mills is where I was going to get them. Talked to the guy last fall, I'll have to go up and leave a deposit cause I need 9'.... Cash is good.. I don't want to put out poison for the moles, wind up killing the birds, and other animals.

Excellent project and if you hurry you may get to get some planting done.

Are you doing your pole barn from scratch or a kit type thing? I hate to use poisons, pesticides or anything of the sort if I can help it. I have wonder how effective those mole traps are as I believe my hounds are getting more lazy by the day.

2 car and shop was already there. I've blocked in front and added 2 OH doors and put steel on most of it. Got to do some concrete work (yuck) on back corner, frame and add another OH door on the end, then finish the steel around it. Then it will be done... Well, except for the roof....

Hey busy beavers.
Priority is finish clearing pasture (cut trees, burn brush, take out stumps), fix fence, have the good straight white oak sawed for lumber for stalls. Tear down cousins old barn, Build stalls and pole barn, chicken house with said lumber. More fencing, drag driveway, get more gravel. Transplant flowers/grapes/rasphberries from old house to new. More landscaping. Put out garden. Clear trails. Put up sheetrock in bathroom, mud ceiling, paint, tile floor, work on wiring/plumbing, replace faucets. Get heat source before winter. Whew.

Great thread!
Well, I have a very busy Spring planed, but very little of it will be what I really want to get to! LOL.
Have to do:
Plan a huge 50th wedding anniversary party for the folks.
Work on a huge commercial rehab project which includes extensive reports, presentations, coordinating of several entities.
Attend all end of year sports and activities at middle and high schools with two sons.
Plan something great for other sons 21st birthday.( still have no clue and it is less than 20 days away! )
Amend all plant beds in the yard with proper nitrogen level that I accidentally depleted last year. (have some of this done already)
Plant a whole bunch of new perennial plants that I ordered while having bad case of spring fever this winter.
Want to do:
Do minor repairs to and re coat wooded deck/porches at the house.
Rebuild the RX7 and get it on the road. (ok, that one is more for hubby)
Re-do one sons bedroom and turn it into a guest room. (20 year old that moved out last year)
Re-do the kitchen floor.
Make 2 new flower beds in the back yard which includes stone wall and water feature.
Re-seed the lawn with actual grass verses green weeds.
Fence in the back yard.
Rent a chipper and turn unused wood pile into mulch.
Fix up two riding lawn mowers that we never use because the yard doesn't warrant them and sell them to make more room in the shed.
Put up a hammock in the back yard and take a break!
