I agree, Italian food only tastes good when made at Home. I make great Italian Sausage sandwiches. Just made some yesterday.

There is a fabulous, and I mean FABULOUS, restaurant here called Northshore Brasserie. It's like a real Belgian brasserie, full of country French food (mustard rabbit, coq au vin, rosemary leg of lamb, etc.), Belgian beers, real Belgian frites (fries), and amazing desserts. They make their own French-style ice cream and have different flavors of crème brûlée--last week was pumpkin crème brûlée, this week is eggnog crème brûlée. It ain't cheap, plan on a good $30-40 per person if you do the full shebang of appetizer, main course, dessert, and wine/beer, but holy cow it's good. It's also decorated like a very typical brasserie you'd expect to see in Brussels or Paris: bright, warm, cheerful.

Now that sounds interesting. Having been to Montmartre, the cheese and wine combinations are so rare- creme brulee- lol my travel agent ( who I assume is well traveled didnt know this term-lol)

I am headed to Maui and Kaui for Christmas- maybe I can bring back some good Chinese -lolol

Y'all are missing out....

In Jonesborough - Main Street Grill. (I believe that is the name). This place is awesome. Not much of a menu, but the food is incredible!

In Johnson City - Newman's for mexican food. Most people don't know they serve mexican food but it is some of the best I've had! It is downtown next to Gatsby's and down from the Hand's On Museum. It is actually a bar/pool hall, but if you get there early enough you will get some great mexican food.

Firehouse BBQ - I cannot believe this has not been mentioned. Some of the best BBQ I've ever tasted and I've lived in Memphis before. This is by the ETSU campus and is absolutely delicious. I recommend the Carolina pulled pork BBQ sandwich.

Yes, Main St is good- I have been there.
Firehouse is good- but they dont serve wine/beer
Neuman's- I went there once- it was dirty and as it was lunchtime, sat at the bar- the man sitting next to me was homeless/asked for money.

Re: the downtown- many have told me it is undergoing renovation/but that that has been in the works for 10 years now- does anyone know if they plan to renovate/make it more upscale?. I read in the JC Press there were some developers- just curious.

It isn't the Chinese food that some have been looking for, but I saw a review of a restaurant in the paper and though some of you might be interested. It is Korean food- though it mentions you can get sushi if you order like $50 at a time.
It is called Red Chili at 435 E. Elk Ave, Elizabethton.

I've never eaten there; I'm way to picky to eat anything like that. So I can't tell from personal expereince how good (or not so good) it may be.
