Question Cookeville, TN Relocation from Buffalo, NY

Any Ideas or answers anyone could give me would be really great!

I live about 30 miles South of Buffalo, NY and we are thinking about relocating to Cookeville. Is it pronounced COOK - Ville?
Can you tell me what the quality of schools are? And what kind of activities are their for kids? Ages 15, 8 and 2.
Also how's the Job market? I work as an Esthetician (Spa, Medispas etc) and my Husband qualifies for anything from Auto Mechanic to Truck driver.
I want to be able to see the stars at night so I am guessing not right in Cookeville we want to reside? We live on 5 acres here and next to a creek. I would like to find something similar in TN.
One last thing I am worried about is which part of town to stay away from? LOL You know every town has these parts. I just wonder about them. I don't want to find a home & be like great cheap! And find out its in a high crime rate area or anything of this nature.
Thank you so much!
Appreciate all your info!!

It's pronounced exactly as you wrote, "COOK-ville". The schools are among the best in the state, consistently getting high marks. The families that I know with children all seem to like the schools.

I'm not in a position to comment on the job market but there are many new companies offering a great variety of goods and services opening in town so I would think there are quite a few jobs. A local trucking company, Averitt, has gone on a building spree in town opening several large buildings for their business which is doing quite well.

You shouldn't encounter any difficulty in finding a nice home on several acres near town. Cookeville offers a large selection of housing in all price ranges.

I am also thinking about relocating to Cookeville from Buffalo but I have a 26 yr old autistic daughter and I'm trying to find out about day programs there for her. Can anyone help? We have already been in touch with realtors and can afford a gorgeous house there (its the most beautiful place I've ever seen) but am having no luck finding help with a program for my daughter. Anyone have any experience with adults with developmental disabilities in Cookeville? Thank you.

Try "Pacesetters" that is a program for special needs people. My son works for them. The headquarters for the area is in Algood a suburb of Cookeville.
