About 15-20 minutes to Cookeville. Very rural. Is it good for children? That depends on what your definition is.

Like 2mares said,Buffalo Valley is VERY rural.
There's a post office, and an old school house that they converted into a community center.
You'll have to go 5 miles up the mountain on I-40 to silver point or 5 miles south to the entrance of Edgar Evins State Park to get to the nearest convience/gas store.
The closest grocery shopping(limited) would be 10 miles west at Gordonsville but you're gonna have to travel 18 miles to Cookeville for most things & the nearest Putnam County schools are in Baxter which is appx. 12 miles.

Now,I'm not trying to talk you out of anything. The area is very quiet & beautiful.Unspoiled so far. Also 5 miles or so to Edgar Evins & Center Hill Lake. You may love it.I just want to give you the facts of exactly where it is...
