just bought in athens
I just came back from visiting my new piece of land, 5m west of 75 by athens. This was my third trip to buy in tn and this time i was not disapointed. I just purchased 13ac and couldnt be happier. It is not for immediate building, but in the next 2/5 yrs. Athens seems to have most everything and i love being only 5 minutes to i75. There really are some nice pieces of land available, you just have to look hard abnd stay away from those sounds too good to be true ads (fell for that one once, long trip for nothing)

Congratulations. Do you mind revealing what you paid? Inquiring minds want to know.

Good deal.
I remember when you visited that land that was marketed for Floridians.
Good for you.

nkvette,
Way to go, yeah. Is your property actually in Athens or another small town? If you don't mind me asking.
We bought 5 acres in Niota, just Northwest from Athens. It is really beautiful. I can't move up there for about 2 years. And then it will depend on the housing market around that time. I can retire 4/1/2010. I'm really counting on the housing market to be quite a bit better by then. I can hardly wait.

I think it is in athens, but it is on the west side of I75 by 5 miles, I believe it is about half way to decatur. Super quite, there is no noise at all, except from animals. I too have to waite out the housing mess in FL, but at least we have a start with the land. Will probably have a site cleared and such as i can afford it, but for now i'm happy the land search is finally over, it is a project, especially when you are 8/10 hours away!

Welcome to Tennessee, nkvette! I sympathize with your desire to move sooner. There are several of us in the same predicament.
If your property is anything like Split's and Bones', you have a winner. Best of everything to you and keep us informed!

We are on the west side of I75 also. Just about 15+ min off of I75, and it is nice and quiet. We are in McMinn County, Niota (but we are not in the City) It almost sounds like we bought the same property. (haha) We too are going to clear the property for the house. It was such a relief when we found our property, what a great feeling. Now we have a light at the end of the tunnel. But I know what you are talking about we are a little further than you away. We are in Lake Worth, FL.
Best of luck to you.
