Lawrenceburg Restaurants - any suggestions?
I'll be traveling to Lawrenceburg from Pennsylvania in May to pick up a couple nieces for a summer visit back home. While my time in town won't be long, I'd like to find a good diner type place to grab a late breakfast, maybe an early lunch. The girls are typical teens that know only the usual fast food suspects.
What I'm looking for is that local favorite. Where you get the morning paper, some good coffee and a decent meal. Every town has one, how about Lawrenceburg?
Thanks!

My husband and neighbor had to pickup a horsetrailer in TN a few months back and stayed over at our daughter's home in Summertown. For dinner they went to Lawrenceburg, to the Chapparall (sp?) for steak. Everyone thought it was very good. Our daughter said she thinks they are open all day, you might want to check.

There is no such thing as "good food" in Lawrenceburg. Even the fast food places are bad. The people here take no pride in their cooking, and it is a waste of money buying it. You should check the health scores on the tennessee.gov site before you go anywhere: Tennessee Department of Health - Restaurant Inspection Scores

CHAPARRAL'S STEAK HOUSE is the most popular restaurant in town, but is extremely average. I've given it a half-dozen chances and have never failed to be disappointed. I've never figured out its popularity except that the rustic (but new) atmosphere is rather pleasant.
the BRASS LANTERN is hands down the best place in town, and the only place we take visitors. They have a very general menu but everything is pretty good (not great) and the fruit tea is excellent. They are also the most expensive place in town, but with entrees running from around 7.00 to 20.00 it's not too bad compared to city dining. Lunch specials are excellent and quite inexpensive!
The David Crockett State Park Restaurant (inside the State Park) is overpriced but not bad for country cooking, sort of a homestyle meat and three buffet with a good view of the lake. The park itself, by the way, is very pleasant which makes a visit to the restaurant much more enjoyable. They have reduced hours compared to most, so call first to see if they're open.
If you want Chinese or Mexican, the ORIENTAL RESTAURANT and LA HACIENDA are not too bad, but I'd recommend ordering off the menu as opposed to the buffets.
There are a dozen or so more, but I would not recommend anywhere else.

After those glowing reviews guess we won't be seeing "Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations - Lawrenceburg"...

Country Kitchen is a Mom/Pop, good food, reasonable prices.
There is a Shoneys, and a small place in the old bus station.
The Taste of Town is only open for breakfast and lunch.
In the Town Square there is a place called, Square Forty.
Brass Lantern is good.
Two Mexican Restaurants: Fiesta Mexicana and La Hacienda. Fiesta is better.
A nice restaurant at the State park.
