Default any suggestions country living close to city in TN

i am a 23 year old female born near LA California and I had a taste of country living and love it. I am not sure if tennessee is right for me but i want to give it a chance, so i need help finding a great community to live in. I want to be within 30 minutes of a city so i can still meet people(still looking for my good ol country boy), 2step and line dance which i love, and have an easier commute to work. I would like to live on at least an acre on a back road type situation i have 5 large breed dogs and love raising pigs/goats for meat etc... i do have questions on tornadoes and how necessary basements etc are. I have been looking at a community, pleasant view tn in between clarksville and nashville and it sounds very cute and like home. But i have been hearing from a lot of east coast people i may like eastern tennessee more becuase i enjoy rodeos, horses, hiking, fishing, hunting, country dancing, and doing things with my dogs. I dont fair well in heat so looking to stay in the cooler parts, i am used to dealing with LA's summer heat, but excited to see how ill be in the humidity. any info is greatly appreciated, sorry cali is taking over tn hopefully its all the kinder people leaving hoping to escape the mean city life. Thanks to you all, Tips Hat, Kari

Without knowing what you do for a living, or what kind of finances you have, or if you want to buy or rent, it is kind of hard to make anything but the most general recommendations, but here goes.

There is a very popular country and western club in West Knoxville. I am told it is a favorite with the single crowd. West Knoxville is growing, but is still close to rural areas, so I would say, with your criteria, look at Knoxville for jobs and Roane, Loudon, and possibly Anderson Counties for a place to live.

Tornadoes are possible here, and we do get the occasional tornado watch, but they are actually pretty rare, especially compared to Middle and West Tennessee. In the six years we have been in the area, there has been one serious tornado that did significant damage to one very small community. I'm not trying to minimize what happened to those victims, but it is nothing like being in tornado alley.

Don't worry about the heat. It isn't that oppressive, and you will adapt.

thanks for the hand, i think im looking to buy at this point, but not much in the money dep. so an older house on a little bit of land really suits me. knoxville sounds great. ill be doing my research.

as for jobs my whole life ive done emergency vet tech work, dog training. i love to do ranch work but dont have as much common knowledge as someone who has been raised around it. i am into the idea of attending a school in nashville for pharmacy tech/surgical tech. but not too sure yet if ill be able to afford it yet. as of right now my vet skills have landed me a position as an aquacultural biology assistant, so im literally gettin my hands wet so i guess the possibility of working at an aquarium or zoo wouldnt be too far fetched either. while i first move out im not opposed to cocktail waitressing till i land a dream job. thanks again, love hearing good/bad about all parts of tennessee

UT at Knoxville has a school of veterinary medicine. I think they are one of only 17 in the U.S. We have used their services. They handle all kinds of animals, including exotic and equine, and they do have an emergency department. Perhaps you can check and see if they have any openings.

Just from the few words I read of your self description, I would not hesitate to say this.

No matter where your heart takes you, you will do well and meet that someone special. You have your act together. There should be more like you, ones that know what they want. Best Wishes for a happy life.
