Thank you very much for the info, I'll look into them all. Do you know if they are fire/rescue or just fire?
Also, Firepower, thanks for your info, I'll let you know if I have any questions.

Thanks guys,

Steve

If you mean they run fire and EMSthen yes. Most departments in this area now run fire/ems runs. Most Ambulance services are county run though and the fire department assist as first responders in most areas although departments with EMT's and paramedics operate under the different counties medical protocols.

If there is anyway I can anwser questions or help just shoot me a PM.

Well, my family and I are ready to leave Florida within the next 3 years. I am currently a firefighter/paramedic. I will be looking for the same career in TN, NC, SC. Not really sure what state we will end up in, need to keep looking and see where I can find a job at. Looking for at least 5 acres(useable acres)not a cliff on the backyard. I have a 2y/o son and thinking about a second one right now, so schools are going to be a big decision. Love the outdoors and to have seasons again, love the slower pace. We can't wait. Thanks in advance to anyone that has any info for us.

Steve
Steve, I'd listen to firepower. If they're hiring in Cookeville/Putnam County, I'd pounce on it. It's a small-ish town but has just about everything you'd find in a big city, but with a lot less crime, no traffic, lots of beautiful land, near some big lakes, etc. The schools there are fantastic, easily among the best in Tennessee. You can live in a very rural part of the county and still be in town in less than 10 minutes.

BTW I used to live in Saint Lucie County (Fort Pierce). Believe me, I feel your pain!
