Yikes! I should pay more attention to what I'm typing. Yes, williboy, I meant 1896/1897. I don't think it was a Worlds Fair, just the Tennessee Centennial Exposition. Part of it is still here as Centennial Park.

Back to your question . . .

Eight states border Tennessee:

Mississippi
Alabama
Georgia
North Carolina
Virginia
Kentucky
Missouri
Arkansas

Missouri and Tennessee each border 8 states, more than any other state.

Alleycat, why do you say the state's largest metro area is debatable? The US Census (and they're the ones who determine what the metropolitan areas are) have the Nashville-Murfreesboro metropolitan area as having 1,521,437 people and the Memphis metropolitan area as having 1,280,533. Those are 2007 estimates. Both metro areas comprise a multitude of counties, and both have added counties since the 2000 census.

OK my trivia question:

What cities have served as Tennessee state capitals?

CreekCat that is correct and it is in Nashville. I'm stumped on the Capital question.
