When I was inquiring about Tennessee in 2006, the town that innundated me with the most material was Crossville. I was already planning to move to Oak Ridge but I appreciated Crossville's effort to woo me. No other place in Tennessee even came close.

Years back I used to get the magazine--"Where to Retire".

Ripley TN ran an add I hadn't seen before , so I called for their info packet.

A very friendly woman stated they had decided to promote their town and this was the first time they ran that ad and I was the first respondent to it.

I recieved a nice packet, a letter telling me I was the 1st person who responded to their ad, and a freshly picked cotton plant in the brochure.

Plus, they didn't ask me to pay for it------------- like Winchester TN did .

Default Crossville

It seems that the area I'm focusing on the most is the area around Maryville, Crossville, Cookeville, Oak Ridge and Knoxville. We watched the video that had been sent from Crossville, and when she heard about the temperate climate part, she let out a big "WOO HOO". She tends to think based on the material we've gotten so soon, that I may have started too early, but based on what others have told me, it's the right time. And I've talked to a few neighbors who are thinking about moving away from this area of Maryland. My wife works for the Federal government at Andrews Air Force Base, so once she retires, we won't be able to afford to live here anyway.

I hope it isn't the kind that was shown to cause cancer...
cookeville too requests money . You receive the packet with an invoice attached. I too do not find the packtes worthwhile either. Requesting information on the board here is much more effective and objective.

It is ONLY the "right time" if it the "right time" for YOU and your wife. Follow your heart, dont be pressured. Something will always be there for you.
