The Italian Market in Knoxville is FABULOUS. It's on Kingston Pike (like everything else in Knoxville) just a half mile or so east of Pellissippi Pkwy, aka I-140. But be warned, it's not for the budget-conscious.
There are some Italians from Brooklyn who fled to Cookeville a few years ago and opened an incredible Italian restaurant called Mama Rosa's, named after the grandmother of the clan. If you're ever in Cookeville, you must go.
Also in Cookeville, a couple from Long Island fled south and opened a German restaurant called Beethoven's Bistro, and even though they never advertise and can't serve liquor (it's next to a church) the place is packed. The husband is actually Austrian and makes everything from scratch, even the pastries.
Anyway, both of those families said the same things that y'all (get used to hearing "y'all"!) have said: NY has priced itself out of business. That's sad.

Laura, if you want, jot down these directions for when you get here. It'll cut down on wandering time.
Get on the Pellissippi Parkway (162). (I think you found it on your trip down. Melton Lake Rd. to right on Edgemoor, go through Solway.)
Take the second Kingston Pike exit and Franklin Square will come up quick on your right. That's where the Italian Market is. I haven't been there, but Franklin Square has some good shops to mosey through.

Does anyone know how much the brunch buffet costs? I suppose I should pick up the phone and call them!

Okay. I called them. The buffet stops seating at 2 p.m. That's plenty of time to get there after church!
It's $15.99 for adult, $9.99 for children 6 to 12, and free for five and under. GREAT prices!
I think I just might go tomorrow.

Thanks for the offer but it's not necessary. When I get there I'll pick up some sausage and cheese, maybe try a few things... Wasn't really looking for a restaurant, just a store for sausage and cheese, and was happy to find one only 12 miles away.
I noticed 3 Chinese restaurants in Oak Ridge.

We've tried all three of the Chinese restaurants. They're pretty mediocre.
I may need to develop a liking for Mexican food.

Thank you for your response. Now that we know what the tri-cities are that will help.
