With about 25,000 Hickman county is too small to matter.

For some maybe we should add Montgomery county (Clarksville) and 158,000. Problem is the MSA includes nearby Stewart county (Dover) then 2 adjacent counties in Ky (Can you say Ft Campbell).

Be interesting to see how Clarksville compares with Murfreesboro. Franklin may not be in the 100,000 class yet.

The next 3 communities are Hendersonville, Smyrna, Bellevue in the 50,000 class. Be fun to see if Brentwood, Gallatin, Lebanon, Donelson, Mount Juliet, Hermitage, La Vergne, Columbia, Madison, Spring Hill can grow into the class?

Well For Donelson, Hermitage i do think they will grow into the 50,000 class and i do think they should add Montgomery county but the commute times aren’t high enough for it to even be in a CSA

Bellevue, madison, Donelson, and Hermitage are all part of Nashville. Their populations will count for Nashville, although you could calculate their populations by figuring out which census districts are encompassed by those areas.

The difficulty with Montgomery County being included is that much of the employment is in Fort Campbell. Even with a sizable population commuting to Nashville for work, it is hard to overcome the commuters staying in Fort Campbell or Clarksville. Over time I believe we will see it become more closely connected to both Nashville and Robertson County. However, it would take substantial growth along the I-24 corridor for it to join up with the Nashville MSA. I don’t know the requirements for CSA inclusion, but that’s clearly more likely. I do think Clarksville functions like a CSA with Nashville, but I’m not sure if it will meet the true definition anytime soon.

I would have guessed Morristown gained but you can't compare its raw numbers with those of a large city. I know where I send some people to live and based on what city is at the top it looks like it's working.
