Smile ice skating? skiing?

We are considering a move to Cookeville. I have found a lot of information but have two more questions. Is there a place to ice skate in Cookeville or nearby? One of my kids really enjoys skating and is getting pretty good at it. The same child is also a good skier (downhill). Where is the closest place to ski? I imagine we'll have to do some serious driving to find a place that gets enough snow. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

There are very few ice skating rinks in Tennessee, and there's nothing within 80 or so miles of Cookeville, unfortunately.

Same goes for snow skiing. The only place in Tennessee to go snow skiing is in Gatlinburg, and even then they have to use artificial snow most of the year. I believe most people around here go to NC or WV if they want to go skiing within driving distance.
