Maybe you were just making a statement , LauraC , and perhaps I am taking it personally ?

I'm sorry, Robbied, I wasn't referring to you. I was just venting some steam.

life is just a bit frustrating right now.
Son is first turrett gunner , until October. I dont sleep well. (2nd deployment)
Work is busy as is husbands. Wish we could move.. Not processing things as I normally would.
Thanks for letting me know, as I realize, that I take things too personally at times.

No it was my fault, upon re-reading your original post and my response to LauraC I can see why you thought I was referring to you. I'm really sorry. I know it can be frustrating to be living somewhere and wanting to be somewhere else.
I can also only imagine what you're going through with your son being deployed again. If it's any consolation, know that there are millions of us out there who constantly pray for your son and all those other men and women who are out there proudly wearing our country's flag on our behalf. You and your family will be blessed for having such a courageous son.

I didn't think JMT was responding to your original post. I thought we went off-topic about a general frustration. I know when I first came here, the same thing JMT said troubled me but when I thought about it, I concluded that a lot of people don't know how to do general search engine research. They typically find sites from links. I don't think we should assume that just because people can send e-mail, do spreadsheets and post to message boards, that they are either experienced in or have been taught how to do online research.
For example, when you tell people to read a local newspaper online, for info about a town, and they come back with, "What's the newspaper for Boogeyville?" --- then I think they don't know how to go to Google or Yahoo and type - Boogeyville newspaper - in the search box, to find what they want. I'm just not of the opinion that it's laziness. So, I think rather than give them the link to the Boogeyville newspaper website, it's better to tell them to go to Google and type - Boogeyville newspaper - in the search box because if you don't, tomorrow they'll be asking, "What's the newspaper for Snookertown?" or some other place. By telling them how to find the info, they'll only ask once.

Robbied - Hang in there, it will happen for you, it will happen for all of us at some point. It's just not your time yet. As much as I look forward to the next chapter, I think I really have to stay grounded in this one also so that I enjoy it as much as I think I will the next.
I think as posters we need to step back some times and pause, before pushing "post". I know there have been posts that I wish I could have pulled back before my time to edit expired, and then there it was, sitting like a big meat ball waiting for the fork. Incidently, meat balls don't have legs - victims of gravity, we can only hope the plate tilts and takes us in another direction before the fork falls, but I digress...
I too can be overly sensitive and have to check that myself sometimes. Now, I will say, sometimes I post the question, "How do I find...". I would say most times, it is because I have exhausted the search that I'm willing to do. But other times, I am just in the throws of being on one of these message boards and am just making conversation. That being said, I think for those newer to the board (which is all relative), we should give the benefit of the doubt that maybe they are just making a little conversation and trying to ease into the pool among the veterans that have been here awhile, ...been there, done that.
I think this board is about helping others, making friends (mostly faceless, but friends nonetheless), learning (wow! have I learned some things here! ) and a great way to start my day with my 21 year old Chicago Bear coffee mug. I rarely read the paper anymore, I come here and other boards and papers on line. I'm glad I came across City Data last June, and it is my must read every day, sometimes several times a day and I look forward to the help and support I receive, and hopefully along the way, I help someone as well.
Whine away, that's why we're all here.

Great post!
I've been here for three years and I still ask questions. Yes, some questions are extremely silly. I'm with JMT. If you can manage to find this site, sign up and post, you know how to "google." In fact, google is probably what brought you here.
But "does anyone know about this school?" or "Any recommendations for a restaurant that is very upscale?" are great questions.

Thank you so much for saying this. You have no idea how much that means to so many military families. THANK YOU!
robbied... I am not sure what all fields your husband could work in, specializations etc. However, I thought I would suggest that you look at the HGTV web site. They have alot of positions available in all kinds of things and alot of them are right there in Knoxville. It might be worth checking out. Good Luck!!

At the risk of furthering this thread off-topic, I agree! We have our flag flying and our purple heart on display in a place of prominence in our home. God Bless America and may all our armed forces and veterans be honored or memorialized with respect.
