Default Let me whine for a minute here please

I really try not to do it very often.. it just starts happening when we begin to plan a Tennessee trip. We have already purchased a building site, so I am so blessed I know. Cant build until we can move there though.

I can find a job anywhere, I am a nurse. My husband is an engineer and does facilities and operations for a large university. He has also been the plant manager for a powdered metals plant up north.

It doesnt seem there are any such jobs in Tn. although we do look on the newspapers and various job search sites.

It is such a beautiful state with such great people and many natural wonders. I wish we could move already.

Ok, thank you. I feel better now.

My husband and I have been here in East TN for about 18 months now. The job market has been very unkind to us here. We love it here, but the job market has been tough for what we do.

I wish you the best of luck. You'll love it when you get here.

I was laid off on Friday and we may have to move back to Colorado or Texas. I'll miss it here, but gotta go where the job opportunities are.

Your husband may not be looking in the right places. Has he checked UT and the state colleges sites?
Human Resources - Employment
There are a lot of smaller colleges around, too. Maryville, Middle and East Tennessee State, Vanderbilt, etc.
Also check TVA's site for jobs that he might be qualified for. And companies like the Cherokee Group
The Cherokee Group | Residential and Commercial Heating & Air, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Service, Repair, Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Plumbers, Electricians | Serving Sevierville, Knoxville, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Morristown, Joh

I will pass this post on to him and he can take a look. He searches often so he may have come across these. The universities list their postings on a major site for University postings which we both have marked within our favorites online.
He has checked the Nissan plant as well. We will keep checking though. Thank you for the suggestions.
Just to let you know I dont just sit and whine without doing anything about it!

I am so sorry for those of you that are there and are finding a struggle. That is exactly what DH doesnt want to happen. I would be able to get a job. I wish he would do consulting but he is afraid to leave a good position for the unknown.
