Nursing Schools/Universities
I am about to graduate and get an Associates in Science and want to continue my studies and get a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing...I wanted to see if maybe anyone knows which schools/universities are good in TN for Nursing. Also, does anyone know how the Nursing market in TN is? Thanks!

Well there's always ETSU in Johnson City. A smaller city and lower cost of living than what you might find in Memphis or Nashville.

There are quite a few nursing schools in Tennessee.
The newest facility is at Tennessee Tech where this fall they're opening a brand new 65,000 square foot building. TTU has had a nursing school since 1980, and it has 100% employment for its graduates.
Cookeville is an hour east of the Nashville airport (cheapest air fares in Tennessee), and being a small town (less than 30,000) it's very affordable.

I have always heard good things about TTUs nursing school. When my neice moved here a few yrs. ago she had no trouble finding a job. She isnt exactly a nurse, a medical assistant? maybe.

I recently finished my training to be a campus tour guide at the University of Tennessee, and going by what I've learned, our nursing program is a very good one. I'm not entirely sure how the process would work for somebody who's already a college graduate, as students at UT apply to be in the "upper division" of the nursing school during their sophomore year after completing some core science/pre-nursing/general education classes, but it's certainly worth taking a look.
I've got lots of information and facts/figures about UT's nursing school, so I'd be glad to provide more if you're interested.

On the west side of the state, Union University and the University of Memphis have good nursing programs. Union is a top-notch private college in Jackson; it has both LPN-to-BSN and RN-to-BSN programs. If you're looking for a more urban environment, the University of Memphis is a large public college which offers the RN-to-BSN program through its Loewenberg School of Nursing.
Best wishes.

I would do an online BSN program. Middle TN State University has a good one.

Actually, no you don't need to go to a traditional classroom for a BSN degree. Most of it is online classes, discussion groups, book reading, projects and research. You do clinicals at your local hospital. Very few BSN nursing students attend traditional classes any more.
