Thanks for all the encouragement. I'm glad you aren't worried about the typo's because I wasn't sure which spell check program I was supposed to download.
Gotta go. It's time for work. The walls "are going up".

Internet Explorer?
ieSpell - Spell Checker add-on for Internet Explorer
It's free. Download is at left in the blue area.
Firefox has one built in. Tools>Options>Advanced>General Tab>Place a check mark in "Check my spelling as I type"

Are you going to add rain gutters and a rain barrel to catch all the water running off of your roof? You could then use all that water for gardening or grey water usage.. Not drinkable without a filter, but it's definitely going to be fine for the garden..

Lisa and Mike, I continue to be in awe of your progress, work ethic, perseverance, etc. I love coming here, reading your story, and looking at your pictures. It's incredible that you are building your own house and that you can explain it in laymen's terms so we can all follow along. You guys are great! Thank you so much for sharing your story with us!

timothyb- We will be putting gutters on the house. We haven't really thought much about rain barrels but you are right and it seems such a shame to waste all that good water. From what we've seen when it rains here it downpours. I'll have to check into it. Thanks.
Sunnydee- Thank you for the compliments. We are working on the inside of the house today and tomorrow I will have more "explanations" and a lot of pictures.
I haven't downloaded spell check yet but I will soon.

Can't wait for the next chapter, and thanks again for sharing. As for the spelling, "who cares ?" the spelling bee is on another thread.

finding your property

MrGADawg:
just thought i'd offer my 2 shiny pennies to your question. my husband and i found our dream property some years back, but the process is the same now. we would pack a bag, and not knowing exactly where we might end up, we headed out for north georgia, different areas each weekend we looked. first we "felt" the area and if it felt good, we would grab whatever local papers there were and went looking. we would either find a little motel to spend the night in and continue looking the next day, or move to another area and do the same thing there. we covered a lot of ground with no plan except to see where the roads took us. we found our little piece of heaven after a few months of doing this. it was a fsbo, which we found to be more affordable. generally, if it's listed with an agent (and, please, i don't mean to offend agents, this was just our experience) it's been evaluated first by the agent and his fellow agents, and then possibly shown to people already. altho, something may certainly appeal to YOU that didn't appeal to that line-up of folks, it is less likely that you're going to get a GREAT deal. just look and look and look, and you'll find certain areas will call you more than others, and all that experience is a wonderful guide to pricing and value when you finally find your spot.

"I need to get more curlex to finish my hill. We started to put everything away and then it started to rain. That really stinks..."
Lisa, where do you find this product, Curlex, around Mountain City?
Tri-State doesn't carry it. Lowe's has a similar product, it sounds like, called a grass blanket.
I can relate to your weather problems as I've been doing a lot of hillside grading during the past six weeks (in the northern part of Johnson County) and the heavy rains have caused some washouts before I can get the hillsides stabilized.
It's fun reading about your building project. Good job!
