Lisa - Does the furniture leave marks on the flooring? It really looks nice. And that looks like something I would like. What is the name of the color of the flooring? What company made it?
Great job guys.

HI LISA AND MIKE .. haven't been here for a while so i had to go back several 'chapters' and read and re-read .. what a project !!!
love your kitchen and the floor ,, unbelievable what they're doing with vinyl flooring nowadays . it looks so real . .
that fireplace caught my eye . .had to leave my old 'fake' one back in fla when we moved here to adamsville tn . in july ..we found termites in it . .;(
broke my heart cause i bought it at a garage sale 30 yrs ago and its moved at least 5 times in all that time . .and i never had a problem . .
anyway . in the next week or so . .my propane heat will be installed in our trailer , and i would LOVE to have one like yours put in our l/r . . .i'm gonna ask the installer when he comes how much ??
i'd be willing to spend a little extra to have a fireplace again . .and just the fact that yours actually HEATS ...OMG .. what a joy that would be .

keep up the great work . .your reward is coming .. very soon. . your first winter by that fireplace, in a home that you built , literally, with your own two (4) hands .. )
God Bless ..

jeanne

Hiknapster- We ordered our bedroom and dining set from a place in Hickory NC. We also saw a clearance couch that Mike liked but they only had 1 piece. Yesterday we decided to get it and some chairs and tables for the LR. It was just easier. We still need a daybed(I think) and a desk for the spare room/office but that we should be able to find easily. Have you had any luck?

FL-Niota- Our flooring is: Natural Fusion Luxury Resilient Flooring by Armstrong. Our line is the Mediterranean Walnut and our color is creme x3000, they make 5 colors in that line.

Natural Fusion Luxury Resilient Flooring by Armstrong

The floor can get small indentations if the piece of furniture is really heavy and the feet(?) are pointy but it is resilient so it will come out. In the motorhome we just put small protectors under the chair legs but I don't know if you really need them.

We had a flooring one time that warned against wearing high heels on it. How can you make something like that? We didn't know about that until we read the instructions. It was a padded vinyl.

Jeanne61- I'm sorry to hear about your FP. That must've been a big disappointment. Thank you for asking/commenting our FP. Mike loves it and he couldn't understand why know one said anything about it, he's such a baby. Talk to your gas man and see what would be safe to put in your home. Our FP is from White Mountain Hearth by Empire Comfort Systems. We got the Vail series Vent-free gas FP. Our has a 32" box and the framing/mantle is added to the box. You can also get a 24" box, 26" box, and a 36" box. Good luck. Also Lowe's and Home Depot should start coming out with these soon. Their prices "might" be better.

Lisa

Niota, every now and then on those "as seen on TV" deals they advertised some little coaster like things you put under your furniture and can scoot them across the floor with ease. They work great! My son's very pregnant fiancee was able to scoot their couch across the room without any trouble. But you can also buy small ones that we left under some of the "feet" Lisa mentioned. They're good for protecting the floor. I think they are called "Moving Men Furniture Sliders". Look around the registers at Walmart and other stores where they have the as seen on TV stuff.

Lisa - love everything you're doing and really appreciate you also helping others with their projects.

This has got to be one of the very best threads on City-Data.

Mike and I just got those sliders at Wal-mart(least expensive there) but Lowe's and HD also have them. We used them to move the washer yesterday and they were great.

Hi Lisa,

A friend sent me the link to this thread. That is what brought me to this forum. We currently live on a large farm but are tired of being so close to the road. We are planning to move to another property much more secluded. This is one of the best and most interesting posts/threads I have come across. OUTSTANDING work and photography! Seriously, I think you could write a book about your experiences. Beautiful place you and Mike have. I can't wait for the next chapter in your project.
