I am interested in the resolution to your story, hollywood!
My teenagers are upstairs painting the space we finally managed to finish up. The original contractor has been off the scene for several weeks and we found someone else, who fixed the original guy's many mistakes and improved upon the work he'd done just in general.
We did end up paying about $1000 more than we had originally planned, but considering that they were converting a big attic to living space and adding two dormer windows in the process, I feel we sort of got off easy. We lucked out (the second time) and found a gentleman who felt so sorry for us and is so incredibly conscientious. He does great work and even left his tools here over the weekend, I think to reassure us that he would be back to finish up after the holiday weekend. It's been a night-and-day difference.
We have carpet installers coming on Tuesday and it should be ready to go. We primed the rooms this morning and are putting color on the walls this afternoon/evening, so that leaves all day Monday for the contractor to finish up the few little things that need doing. I would recommend him to anyone, that's for sure. It's hard to BE a perfectionist but when you hire a contractor, that's who you hope you've ended up with!
I hope your story had a similarly positive resolution, hollywood!
