I KNOW I did not read "three finger bag"! LOL
![]() Seriously though, my parents have always had a second home on Lake Blackshear in Ga. We grew up chasing fireflies, willowflies, riding trees, swimming, skiing, etc.. One thing I have noticed for several, several years now is that I do not see fireflies/lightnin bugs there anymore. They were such an integral part of my childhood, and I hate to think I will not see them there anymore! Soooooo, am I gettin nearsighted in my old age, or is this something that is happening at Lake Blackshear and other places? (OR perhaps something about a three finger bag...nawwww just reminiscing!) I would never! ( ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ) AND I never exhaled, By Golly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!JUST JOKING ALL! |

what great memories !!! from bklyn n.y.. . and chasing them and capturing them in glass jars with holes in the lid . .never heard of 'selling' them .. i would have made a fortune .. thanks for that memory !!! Jeanne |

I was with some friends this week here in Knoxville, and their 18yo brother from Utah just came out for a visit. I had never seen someone so excited to see fireflies in my life. He kinda sorta knew they existed but thought the whole thing was an exaggeration. But even here in the middle of Knoxville there are fireflies everywhere, and that kid just couldn't get over it. It was fun to see his reaction. He ran out into the front yard so he could surround himself with those twinkling little lights.
No matter how old or jaded I get, I can't imagine ever getting tired of seeing fireflies. For me, it's one of those simple pleasures that makes life so enjoyable. And it's almost like God is rewarding us for putting up with the heat and humidity of a Southern summer day; at the end of a muggy, sweaty day, we sit on the front porch as the cool night air sets in, and those beautiful twinkly fireflies light up our front yard like a Christmas wreath. |
