Are there any areas at all that get substantial amounts in the winter? Preferably a place where it would melt fairly quick when things warm up also.

Definitely the Northeastern part of the state up in the mountains and up on the Cumberland Plateau.

Yep, I'd imagine that Johnson County gets the most snow of any of TN's counties. Still, if you're looking for somewhere with snow, you might want to look further north.
I can remember when we actually got some snow here, but we've not had anything substantial in at least 8 years, and the last biiiiiig snow was 15 years ago. |

This was the most we had in DeKalb county this past winter.It stayed on the ground about a day,and was gone.It snowed once more just the same but was gone in a day as well.
