Default Pictures of Dandridge

OK these aren't much, but while I was in Dandridge today I thought I might take a couple of pictures of its quant little downtown area. It seems several people in here have been asking about Dandridge.

It's the county seat of Jefferson County. The building with the big clock tower is the county courthouse. I'm standing on an earthen dam that separates Douglas Lake from Dandridge. I wish I had a helicopter so I could've taken a picture of the lake with downtown Dandridge in the same picture.

And Dandridge is the only town in America named for George Washington's in-laws.

I had heard that Dandridge was named after Martha Dandridge Washington - I prefer to think of it that way ~ :-)

Hello everyone! I am a Dandridge by birth and was told about Dandridge, TN by my father. I contacted the Chamber of Commerce there and sent them a copy of the family history that had been passed on to me. I was told then by a member of the Chamber that Dandridge was indeed named after Martha Dandridge-Washington.

I hope you like it. I think Dandridge is a cute little town, and with its proximity to I-40 and East Knoxville it's really starting to grow. Have fun with the move!

My family and I recently visited the Morristown area and we loved Dandridge. We will be relocating to the area at the end of summer and Dandidge is definitely a possibility.
