We just bought 12 acres in Benton county about 90 miles east of Nashville, just north of I-40. Although we love the mountains of E. Tenn, prices there are quite a bit higher and we wanted out of the traffic and relief from the high taxes and insurance here in Fla.
Our children and Grandchildren will follow, and build on our property. Here we can plant apple and peach trees, grow blackberries and blueberries and vegetables, and raise chickens like my Grandaddy did many years ago in Alabama.
I want my grandkids to go to the small local school with an enrollment of 177 (Grades 1-8)
And for about 1/4 of what my 60' x 100' lot cost here in Fl, I get 12 acres and this view from my back porch.

Wow, that is beautiful! Congratulations on your new home. Enjoy those grandkids.

Default beautiful

this is really splendid. Congratualtions. We bought one little acre in the homestead area of crossville. Yikes. But we do get tired of taking care of our almost two acres here in Fl.

Well, the Plateau area is also to our liking. I love the views in the Monteagle area. But both my sisters have property in Benton county (one has lived there for 20 years) and we wanted to be together to live out the rest of the time we have left.
We've lived in Clearwater for 40 years; almost everyone we know (our age) is planning on retiring to either NC, Alabama, N. Georgia or Tennessee.
