So, it sounds like Murfreesboro would be the best place to settle in for what I'm looking for. By the way, I'm a physician assistant....so the importance of good hospitals and private practices are of a great importance to me.
- True or False: I caught wind of Johnson City and it's surrounding areas being exceptionally well known for there medical services. It might be another area to consider.
Johnson City has a medical school at ETSU and also has a large VA hospital. It's definitely a hot bed of medical services for that region of Tennessee. It's a beautiful, mountainous area with a cooler, less humid climate that what you'll find in Murfreesboro.

MTW is on a distinguished road
If you are still considering this move, you might consider a few things. First if you want all chain stores and you could care less about independent restaurants and retailers by all means move to Murfreesboro. Cookeville is also a nice cross between the two and is home to Tennessee Tech University. Murfreesboro has a Target, but Cookeville does not for some strange reason. Everyone including McMinnville has a Walmart. In fact, McMinnville has one of the largest Walmart Supercenters around. McMinnville is about 13,000 in population located half way between Nashville and Chattanooga, both of which are great cities. Chattanooga is really alive. They just landed the new North American VW assembly plant, but the reason why they landed this plant is because the city is so great. Chattanooga is about an hour south of McMinnville and a beautiful scenic drive. I personally like it better than Nashville, but Nashville is wonderful too.

Remember that the larger cities will eat you alive in hidden expenses, such commute times and the gas it takes to get from one place to another, traffic and higher taxes. If you want to live better think about smaller towns that have access to larger cities. McMinnville is well situated for this. Many people from OH have moved here.

McMinnville has a quality hospital - River Park Hospital and there are also many opportunities for Home Health Care - Try Nurse One. You should not have a problem finding a job as an LPN. Living expenses in McMinnville are pretty low. Property taxes for one thing are really low. On a $100K home you can expect to pay less than $1,000 for combined city and county taxes. Car and Homeowner insurance rates are also low. Electricity rates are among the lowest in the country thanks to McMinnville Electric System and TVA. Natural gas is pretty cheap. Water and Trash is the most expensive thing here, but they are good services. A family of four can expect electric bills to average under $100 a month (12 months). Natural gas is about $35/m. Water/Trash is about $68/m. Phone and Internet about $60-$75/m. There is a choice of dish, digital tv through phone lines and cable here. There is a very good phone company here called Ben Lomand, the fifth largest Telephone Cooperative in the US. Gasoline as of this email was $3.49/g. There are apartments and true homes for rent. Schools are what you make of them, meaning that if you are not an involved parent, don't expect them to do it for you. There are private and public schools in McMinnville. I am not familiar with the daycare, but that can be found. Call the Chamber of Commerce at 931-473-6611 (Warren County Chamber Of Commerce - Index). Another website that can tell you what to do an see in McMinnville is their downtown program called Main Street McMinnville (Main Street McMinnville).

Hope this helps.
