Exit 402?
I have wondered this for a year now every time we take the Interstate into Knoxville from out here in Dandridge. Where does exit 402 go to? Does anyone know? There aren't any town signs.
Thanks in advance,
Pam

I can't even remember where 402 is. Any hints?

It's the road to nowhere! Seriously, I used to live off of Midway Road which is exit 402. There's nothing there but beautiful farms and a nice golf course (River Islands?) along the French Broad River.
That's the exit where some Knox County commissioners want to rezone the area to commercial to allow an industrial park. Right now it's all zoned residential/agricultural. I was part of the group that opposed the rezoning back when I lived out there.

It is the exit after Strawberry Pains and the exit before Pigeon Forge.(If you were heading East)

Ah, okay. When JMT said "Midway" it all clicked. Never been out that way.

Yes, it's the exit between Strawberry Plains and the Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg exit. I don't know of another interstate exit anywhere around here that has absolutely nothing, not even an old gas station. It's nice.

JMT,
Makes you wonder why they put it in without even a gas station.... and a road to nowhere!

well if I recall, it's a bit of a drive to the Sevierville and Strawberry Plains exits. I guess it was a good compromise for people wanting to get off 40 in that area.

Is that the exit that goes out to a little town that is sitting really low in a valley with no apparent exit specifically for it any where? I've always wondered what the town was down there and how to get to it. From up on I40, it looks like a really cute little quaint town. I think there's a Lowe's down there maybe if I remember correctly??

I'm not sure where that is that you're describing, but it's not exit 402. Midway Road (exit 402) doesn't really go anywhere in particular, and there's not a town anywhere near there. If you head north on Midway Road from the interstate you dead-end at Thorngrove Pike. If you go south on Midway Road it dead-ends at Kodak Road. It's a beautiful area, but there's no town there.
