Yes it's different Amy and my good advice is never compare a new place with the old one you lived in,thats what makes things harder on you, just try to discover the new place, and the things it has to offer rather than looking back, look at the cup half full not half empty and things will look up.
People are nice here ask all the questions you want and I tell you,you will get an answear
I'am moving in soon from Germany never been in TN but through people here on this forum learned a lot LoL even driving distances, saw pics thanks to JMT,learned about cost of living for groceries, power bills, internet and cable and so on and you know what my big secret is "ask all the questions you can",people are more to comply if you ask for their help then complain. So take adventage of the hospitallity everyone here loves to give and try to make the things thats not so perfect right now better I assure you, youre not alone here
PS and Thanks to all that take their time to help all of us seeking to live in TN

I will gladly trade places with Amy. I'd love to be in TN right now instead of having to wait another year.

AlisonL, really?
Although I agree with your sentiment of wanting to be here -- I love Tennessee, I noticed you are in Maine. I think Maine is one of our most beautiful states. What is making you leave? Weather? Lucky girl!

That's funny! I told her the same thing! If I could afford it, I would be there. I love Tennessee, don't get me wrong, but Maine is heaven on earth.

I am being stingy with my posts because our internet is on the fritz after a lightning strike a day or so ago, buuuttttt... I had to chime in on this one. (I'm at the library with one hour of computer time left!!! Oh, no!)
Maine is heaven on earth. What a gorgeous place - especially along the coast. Fortunately, TN is here for us who don't have the $$ or weather tolerance to live there. But, for Tennesseeans - what a great vacation spot!

All of the above. Too pricey. Tired of being taxed on everything they can think of and more. Am waiting for them to tax us on the air we breathe.
Number one reason is health. Our long, cold winters are too hard on my asthma.
We orginally thought about about purchasing a timeshare in TN, and then decided....what the heck, lets just move there. I fell in love with TN from an airplane window...honest to goodness. Told my hubby "I am home". I like to think of it as fate.

AlisonL, that truly sounds like fate. We had a similar experience when we started our search about 7 or 8 years ago. We were living in MA at the time and DH had absolutely had it with the snow. I go where he goes and when we drove into Tennessee we both said, "This is it!"
Hope your dreams come true in Tennessee. I expect mine to, but have my eyes wide open at the same time!

Asthma? Are you kidding?
You need to go back and read some posts about this issue.

I've done alot of air quality research and TN has better than we have here in my area of Maine.
