pictures of Cookeville
Last month someone posted a request for pictures of Cookeville. I was there today and took some before it got too dark. As you can see, there's not much traffic!
This is part of the Cream City historic district downtown:
This is the Farmers' Market in downtown Cookeville:
This is the mural dedicated to public safety heroes:
This is the West End section of downtown (and a really good Cajun restaurant and cafe in the middle of the pictures...):
This is looking towards the main part of downtown while standing at the West End district:
This is the Quad, or the old part of campus at Tennessee Tech University:

Thanks!
Cookeville is about 70 miles east of the Nashville airport, 100 miles north of Chattanooga and 100 miles west of Knoxville.

Yeah it was COLD, and windy, too. But the Japanese noodle place was packed at lunch.

Around the corner from that Japanese noodle place is a bakery that has the flakiest, butteriest (is that a word?) croissants I've ever had outside of France. And next door to the Japanese noodle place is a Belgian chocolaterie, and around the corner from that is a store that sells homemade baklava and four-packs of Orangina. Across the street from that is a stained glass gallery, and next door to that is an art gallery. Above all those shops are some really cool loft apartments with exposed brick walls and hardwood floors. And it's all across the street from the old train depot, which is now a nice little museum of railroading. Speaking of which, there's also a really neat store in that same block that's a haven for model railroad enthusiasts.
Twenty years ago that part of downtown Cookeville was nothing but pawn shops and used car part dealers, very dirty and not inviting at all. It was an embarrassment. I'm thrilled to see it become cleaner and more posh.
