Jarrod Erpelding, a spokesman for Hemlock Semiconductor Corp., and Dow Corning, said this morning that Clarksville's Commerce Park, a TVA-backed industrial site, is a contender for a major plant expansion by the Michigan-based company.
The project, which would involve producing polycrystalline silicon, an ultra-pure rock-like material needed to produce solar panels and electronics, could mean a big boost in jobs for Middle Tennessee’s economy.

Sounds like great news for Clarksville. I truly hope this latest oil crisis has led people to believe in alternative choices of power. It would be great to have a factory in our community geared toward promoting alternative energies.
