A year or two ago I took my grandkid to the Sparta drive-in thinking it would be fun. Ha. Really was nothing like I remember when I was a kid. They had us packed in like sardines. I was actually asked to move my truck over so they could squeeze in another vehicle. Couldnt see parts of the screen, the movie was a hour late getting started and we were never able to get any consessions or us the bathroom (port a pottys) due to the lines. Wont go back again.
When I was a teen I remember going to the Cookeville Drive-in and the one in Livingston use to show dirty movies on certain nights.

2mares, if you get down this way check out the one in north GA. It's great and very family friendly. They don't show dirty movies though lol

Estill Springs in Franklin County has a triple screen drive-in. Just built in the last couple of years, but i haven't been to it.
*sigh* Remember the old Stones River drive-in movie near Murfreesboro? Back in the good old college days?.... Don't remember much about the actual movies though....lol

The Midtown drive-in near Kingston was a blast in high school. Two people in the front seat, four in the trunk to save money at the gate... then if you were lucky, you spent most of the movie in the back seat, if you catch what I'm sayin'.
I don't even know if the place is still there, but it hosted some good times in the late 1990's.

I agree with you about the Sparta drive-in. Horrible experience.

Nashville and Johnson City Drive-ins
When I was about 8 or 9, my family would visit our Grandparents in Nashville and Johnson City for vacation time away from Texas where Daddy was stationed in the Air Force.
My Grandmother in Nashville would load, what seemed like hundreds of, us kids in her big old 60's era Cadillac. (Those things were huge). We would see movies at the SkyVue Drive-in on Dickerson Road and Maplewood Lane in Nashville for a buck a car (I think). Today, the company I work for is located on that same tract of land. (NorthStar Studios)
My Grandparents in Johnson City lived near a drive-in, where we would go and sit on the front lawn of the Pet Dairy Building (which overlooked the drive-in) and watch movies. Couldn't hear the sound that well, though. The drive-in was located where the Kingsport and Bristol Highways split. There was a restaurant next to the drive-in called "The Texas Steer", where the workers would give us free ice cream if we went to the back door.
We went to a drive-in in Fort Collins, CO a few years ago while on vacation visiting relatives. It sure brought back memories. This was a twin screen drive-in where you listened to the sound of the movie on your FM radio. We brought lawn chairs and sat outside our car to watch the movie. If the movie I was watching got to be boring, I would turn my chair around, face the other screen and change the station on my FM radio to that movie's sound and watch it for awhile.
I sure miss those drive-ins!

Kat - As JKME mentioned, the one in Trenton looks nice (I've never been) and is in Trenton just off of I-59S coming from I-24. Take the Slygo Road exit, and your just about there.

They're showing double features, although I didn't have "Space Chimp" on my movie to do list! lol
You and your hubby need to go and give us a review.
