They're open breakfast, lunch & dinner ('til 8PM Mon-Thur; 9Pm Fri-Sat; closed Sun).
We went to the fair too! It was very small...but that's what I expected. We did enjoy watching the little kids racing dirt bikes

Oh gosh I'm so sorry for posting the wrong address for Dipsy Doodle! I should've known, too, since I've been to their new location. Oh well. It'll give you a reason to go back to Cookeville.
And you're right, the fair there is pretty small particularly for a large town. A lot of people in Cookeville would just as soon sell the fairgrounds and combine fairs with White County. Anyway, I wouldn't make my decision to move there or not move there based on the county fair particularly since there are 3 other county fairs within 15 or so miles of Cookeville.

Our decision to try to move here had nothing to do with the county faif. I have been to the Cumberland County Fair & assumed that Putnams would be a bit bigger. It's not. But that's what you get when you assume! Didn't spend a ton of time in town Saturday. We pretty much know the town now & what it has to offer. Did get some updated real estate books.

Yeah it is interesting that the Putnam County Fair is so much smaller, but that really has more to do with the size of the fairgrounds. It's pretty much landlocked in the center of Cookeville with no room to expand. A few years ago KMart wanted to buy the fairgrounds and build a new shopping center anchored by a Super KMart. But the county commissioners balked and nothing was done.
Every once in a while then the county has a budget crunch someone brings up the subject of the value of the fairgrounds property. But many of the old-timers are terrified of giving up the county fair and merging it with White County's fair. Frankly, since Putnam County and White County already share an airport, and now that there's a 4-lane highway connecting Cookeville and Sparta, I think putting the fair in White County makes sense. Oh well.

Joe,
I am curious as to what year "B" you have? I had a '62 back when and almost bought a '65 about a year ago. The engine and underside had been restored when the owner ran out of money. I got cold feet when I started checking out prices of stuff to finished the restoration of the body and interior.

It's a '78. Not a show car by any means....just a decent looking driver. Parts availability, both new and used, is excellent - and prices aren't bad at all.

That's a beautiful car! I can think of a few hilly, curvy roads around Cookeville where it would be FUN to drive that thing...
