Hi everyone,

I am hoping to get some feedback on my current situation. i lived in knoxville, for 15 years, and moved to nashville two years ago. i love knoxville, and am dying to get back there, but im concerned about the jobs and the rate of pay at jobs in knoxville. it seems to me that there is a lot more job and money to be made in Nashville. I guess im hoping that someone else has had a different experience or that im missing something. by the way, i only need to make about $43,000-$45000 per year to be comfortable and ok financially. the thing im concerned about in knoxville is getting there and making $30,000. The last job i had in knoxville, i was making enough, but then the job gave us a drastic paycut, and i moved to nashville. ive heard the job scene in knoxville is pretty bad, but im not sure how to find out for sure.

also, im in sales. and again, i love knoxville and dont really like nashville. and i dont need to get rich, but making under $40,000 is getting a little low for me. Thanks!

Nashville is a larger city with more employment opportunities, but you only need one job. Why not put our resumes and network and see if you can live comfortably in Knoxville again? Many years ago I noticed it was very hard to get into the Knoxville area, but more recently, I saw the opposite. It really depends on supply vs demand for the type of work you do.

Yes, it depends on your profession. For what it's worth, Davidson County's unemployment rate is 6.9 and Knox County's is 5.9.

I moved from Knoxville to Nashville May 2010 for a job. I love both cities, but I advise you to hold onto your Nashville job until you find one in Knoxville, and then make the move. The cost of living seems to be the same, but schools and housing prices definitely better in Knoxville.
Nashville is much larger than Knoxville, thus more opportunity. It seems both cities for me hires on a who-you-know basis. Utilize outlets like LinkedIn, Facebook, as well just cold sending companies your resume regardless if they're hiring or not.
