Your thoughts
Any recommendations on small towns in eastern TN? I have looked some at Morristown (on the net) and it looks nice what I have read so far. I want mountain views, some snow, cool summers (80's or lower), and a vibrant church. I work in healthcare and enjoy music and reading. I am 48, single, and want to make a big change in my life. I have lived in western NC but would like some place new. I appreciate any ideas, suggestions, or comments!! Thanks, Dottie

I am also in Healthcare. occupational therapy assistant. Will be moving down next year and building on property we bought last year.

Morristown has a lot of people who's name ends in "Z". Not that there is anything wrong with that but be prepared for a lot of neighbors that are "guest workers" as W. would say.
I can't say enough good about Johnson City and like it more every day. The outskirts are quiet enough to seem hometown with a sense of community but convenient to stores, shopping, healthcare, etc. I also think the pay scale is a little bit better than the smaller towns that surround this area.

Thanks for your thoughts Joe! I had noticed the population stats , what is the draw in Morristown for hispanics? In western NC we had lots of apple orchards and therefore a large and growing immigrant (a lot illegal) population. What about the weather in JC? Is there a lot of humidity in the summer? Are you planning on a move to TN?

You won't get cool summers in Morristown. The average high in July is between 87 and 88 degrees with probably 30 days that hit 90. You will get some snowfall....probably 10-15 inches. I've always liked Morristown when I've driven through there.

Church Hill and Mount Carmel are also nice. Starting to grow some, but still "small town". Kingsport is just a stone's throw away.
