I cant sleep. I dunno why.
but I recckon I started out on the wrong foot with a few folks on here. I allready see myself being alot different then the majority of the "regular"folks who post on this board. I know theres alot of family folks and housewives and Im just the opposite, I'm the single guy, who doesnt mind stirring up the pot and cuttin up every now and then. But when it comes down to it, I'm stubborn in my beliefs and views, compared to other folks I guess.

Yes Sneedville is similar to Mayberry. We bought property here a couple years ago and I have been living here on and off between Tn and Fl for the last 6 months. The people are geniune and the scenery is breathtaking. Just the energy of the land feels good. An you're right, Mouse, Sneedville is far removed, but that's what lends to the attraction, at least for me. Why just yesterday, a neighbor stopped and offered a helping hand when he saw I was building a barn. I'm taking him up on it too. Rogersville is not that far and neither is Morristown if you need something Sneedville can't offer. I make my weekly trip to get "provisions" but try to buy as much as I can locally. You might think that prices are higher in a small town but not so in Sneedville. I actually find better prices on many things. Once you become a "Sneed villian " (LOL) you'll be pleasantely surprised what you can get here. DSL is lacking out of town. I found a dish provider that is very reasonable called SKYfx. Check it out at www.SKYfx.us Now that I have the dish I'm back up and running. Well I gotta get ready to go to the 7th Annual Spring Festival. People around here celebrate everything and take pleasure in the simply things of life. What ever happened to that? Take care all. If you have any other questions, ask, I may be able to help.

Glad your feeling better now.
I was born and raised in a little Podunk country town in the woods of CT then had to do an awful stint in Fl for several years then moved to East TN the first chance I got, a little over 10 years ago.
How about you?

Mouse.. I'm from Carrollton Ga originally, Ga's been getting too overcrowded and expensive..I made the move North a while back and I loved it. Made Athens TN home for the past seven years... now I'm actually looking into the S.Pitsburg- New Hope area of Tennessee this summer, but I dont see too many folks ever mention that area on these boards.
Basically, it'll be just myself, looking for a small one bedroom Apt thats clean and not in a over crowded complex or apartment house.

You are right, I have not seen many people if any talk about that area of TN..........ummm...where are those towns? I know where Athens is (personally don't really care for the few parts I saw, but that was only a little bit of it I am sure.......but mainly that is where my ex lived for a time LOL!) and I know from West Knox east and that is about it. I have been to Nashville a few times, Murfreesborough and that area several times, but that is it as far as west of Knox. Where is New Hope? What a nice name for a town.

New Hope and Whiteside are right off Interstate 24, 27 miles west of Chattanooga in Marion County.
Lookout Mtn spirals around that area, as well as Nickajack Lake.
towns that are close by are S Pitsburg, Kimball, and Jasper.
I need to so some researching. There might not be a whole lot of places to rent in that area that fit my situation or Criteria.
I have nothing against Athens, I enjoy my time here, but sometimes its healthy to make changes, personally and career wise.

I've been to Sweetwater and thought it was really nice. I wonder if New Hope would be kind of expensive?

Heck I dont think it would be, Its far away enough from Chatty and not near Nashville.
I'm, researching as we speak. Within the next couple weeks, I'll take me a Saturday and Sunday to go and see myself. Ive driven around down there a few times, matter of fact, theres an old railroad bridge (tressle) that goes right over the Interstate 24, Its huge and ya cant miss it!! Ive hiked and walked up in those woods. Its peaceful and I love it.
but realisticaly, I need to scour the area and see what types of industries there are, and rentals as well. I'm simple, I dont need alot.

If it's isolation that you're looking for, you're going to the right place. I don't know of another town in the Southeast that is as isolated. The scenery is grand and the people are extremely nice. I know this because I grew up not far away in Lee County, Va.
