Brbrbrgn: Can't sell in Vero Beach? We lived there 16 years and sold in 2003. Have had land outside Sneedville for about 8 years now. Hope to move and build there next year. Wonder if we know each other?

Warcreekrd, Right now nothing is selling in Vero, thanks to the hurricanes. Prices have gone so high no one can afford the mortgage & insurance.
I've been here 37 yrs so there is a possibility that we might know each other. Feel free to send me a pm if you'd like to talk.

We just came from Florida, we took the plunge without selling our home in FL... My motto if you want it and like it go get it the rest will soon come tother and if it doesn't...what can ya do! Any how sorry got caught up in my quote/motto there. I do not know where Sneedville is, but we are in Dandridge not to far east I believe from Gatlinburg. We have over 9 acres and the area is considered rural, funny when I think rural, I think no A/C no running water or electric, LOL.... But thats what its considered, but we do have fast access via WIld Blue Satellite Internet and have always had DirecTv which you can take anywhere, now they give you all new receivers and you leave your old dish, so its very comfortable to just have the installer do all the work and walla TV!!!! LOL, but you will be able to use your PC outhere thats if you can retain yourself from staying outside, its so beautiful here you will want to sit for hours on your porch as we do and just listen to the sounds, watch the little critters (rabbits, dears, some huge flying birds and whatever else we have seen cross our pasture)......

I can't agree with you more. We did the same thing. About 3 years ago we decided to move. We set out on a mission to find just the right place that would fit our needs and desires. Hopped in the car and started driving. We actually got lost looking for another piece of property in Kyles Ford. We eventually did find it but it was 60 ac of mostly mountain, some bottom land on the river. It was nice but not enough for what I wanted and certainly not enough pasture. You know these roads don't have shoulders, and some are very narrow, well we spotted a torn and weathered For Sale sign and pulled a U turn. Then when we went past it again we had to pull another U turn. Well I guess we attracted some attention because just as we did this a State Police goes by and a pulled a U turn also and pulled up behind us. Asked what we were doing. We told him we were interested in this parcel of land for sale. Thats when things began to fall into place. The cop owned the land! He was at his mothers just down the road and saw us. He took his cruiser up to his moms, grad his beat up pickup and came back to us. Loaded us in the truck and drove us all over the land. He said he had a deal already cookin' but the propective buyer wanted to make a subdivision out of it and he would rather not do that. Long story short, we bought it(150ac, approx. 1/3 pasture the rest wooded and uphill), became good friends with the State Police, made many key connections in town, (because of his cop connections and being related to just about everyone in town) and are moving right along with our plans. It helps to name the project. I call our farm, "Xanadu" That way all my family knows what I mean when I say Xanadu. The concept has been born, and now is beginning to materialize. But only because we took the plunge and started it. That is the only way things get done. Like Starsky and Hutck said in the remake, "Just do it, do it, do it!!!" I also bought a house just down the road where I am living at the moment. I have started some construction at Xanadu. At the moment I have a 5000 sqft barn going up and have my driveway to the future site of our house roughed in. The driveway is 1 mile long. I love it. Will be starting the house by this fall. Once the barn is up, then I can move everything from the Florida home to it for storage and sell my place in Florida. Moderator cut: advertising not allowed
