Very disappointed!
My husband and I took the long President's Day weekend and made the trip to Paris TN.. I have to say we were very very disappointed in what we saw. It looked very socially depressed and had as we entered the town one salon/bar after another. We were looking for a Mayberry type setting and according to ****** we fit that perfectly to Paris.. We both took the online test and we both came up with Paris.. I now believe that site is a way to get people in any given town. Has to be Realtors what else?
We did make the best of it and drive on to Cookesville and over to Clarksville and then on to Nashville and Knoxville.. but let me tell you that was a lot of driving from Columbus Ohio!
thanks again for all your input and if you happen to know where I can find Mayberry please pass it on.

I have never been to Paris, TN but I would love to know what you thought of the other places you saw.

I'm sorry to hear you didn't like Paris, but I have to admit that I'm not surprised. I think in the earlier post you made a few weeks ago I made a comment about that sham of a quiz that told you to move to Paris. I took the quiz twice with different answers each time but it told me to move to dumpy Clarksdale, Mississippi.
Anyway, I agree with hiknapster, what did you think about the other places you visited? If you're looking for "Mayberry" then I don't think Cookeville or Clarksville would fit since they're considerably larger. But there are plenty of small towns near Cookeville and Clarksville that might fit. But I guess you weren't able to venture out into the countryside very much?
Again, I'm sorry you weren't impressed with Paris TN. If it's any consolation, I've never been impressed with it, either.

I have lived in 10 different states and the closest I have ever come to Mayberry was Fayetteville, TN. Fayetteville is the county seat of Lincoln County, about 90 miles S of Nashville and 25 miles N of Huntsville, AL. I have NEVER seen a more wonderful public square or met more friendly, down-to-earth people. Its proximity to booming Huntsville means that jobs are plentiful, shopping is good and the arts scene is also good. I would have been there for the rest of my life except for a job transfer

Paris Tennessee & Henry County The Truth
My name is Randy i have lived in Paris Tennessee all my adult life i am 45 years old. Paris and Henry county has many good pointss i well agree to that. A great place to hunt and to fish and to have a great time in the outdoors. But there is another dark side to Paris and Henry County. Lets not try to sweep it under the rug like it well go away some how. We have in Henry county overcrowded Jails we have a dire meth and crack cocaine crisics. We do not have enough Police offices or County police offices to put a heavy dent into this crisic. And we mut stop hiding the facts we have in Henry County and Paris Tennessee, A growing gang problem that is only going to get worse not better. We have motorcycle gangs names like the Jokers and street gangs of all kinds. We must have a if if we hate to do this. A city and County properity tax increase it is either stay at the status quo. And let things get much worse then they are allready. Or stand up and and give or city of Paris and our County of Henry County the resorses to battle these thugs on a even playing field.

The only place you'll find Mayberry is TV Land. Good look with your searching.

We have owned about 25 acres in Springville, just south of Paris for about 5 years now. We were hoping one day to retire there. We visit for a week a year and haven't seen the problems with gangs or drugs. Maybe it is because I am only trying to see the good? This post makes me want to sell and re-think living there.

I wouldn't pack it in just yet, if it's so bad in Paris why hasn't Randy gotten out? If you go on the main CD site and search for Paris you will find some posts about it.

I'd suggest giving any one post the weight it deserves (even mine). I've seen a couple of negative posts about the Paris area, and some that were very positive. Read all the posts about Paris here on C-D, talk to people in the area, read a newspaper from the area; in other words, get a more complete picture before making a decision either way.
