Electric customers can expect to see a bigger bill in the mail following an increase in rates from power supplier the Tennessee Valley Authority. Distributors, in turn, will be passing that increase on to their customers. TVA approved a 20-percent increase in its wholesale power rates, effective Oct. 1. The 20% electricity cost increase was needed to pay for the $500,000 pay raise for TVA President and CEO Tom Kilgore's bonus-driven compensation package next year from a potential $2.7 million to $3.27 million. According to the article that comes to about a $500,000 pay raise in one year.

Heck, we can't have TVA executives making a paultry $2.7 million dollars a year! That's only a measly $51,925 dollars a week!

I am sure Tom Kilgore will be able to struggle and scrape by on $62,885 a week MUCH better.

I saw that in the paper this morning. Pretty amazing - first stick it to the users and then reward the fat cats.

It's truly sad. When is enough, enough? I just don't get it but it's happening in so many big businesses and all of "us" get to pay for it. Mike and I may not be paying on the residential end(well the solar up front costs are really high) but we will all pay when we go shopping. Small businesses will end up raising prices to cover the new electric hike.

Again the Oak tells it like it is, my electric bill has almost tripled in the past 10yrs. or less only to recieve the same service with no real upgrades other than last years electronic read meters. Now they do not come to your house they read it from who knows where? and if you stand and watch it you can make no sense out of the blinking #'s and I think that's part of their master plan, to keep you in the dark and that's exactely where you'll be if you do not ponie up the $'s for the same service you recieved when your bill was 75 bucks and now is 200!!!
