I'm sorry, but burning wood is the most natural way to heat anything. How do you think man kept warm and cooked food for thousands of years? Now personally I think it's a bit messy and hard work but...

All of my family grew up with wood burning heat sources, and my maternal grandmother grew up in a house with no electricity (i.e., a wood-burning cookstove). So far they're all doing quite well and lasting into their eighties with no real problems... so...

---if-- you have a wood stove inside a house, check with your insurance company for proper instalation.

I've seen some wood stoves set up in a house so improper that the parents should have been charged with child endangerment for the fire hazzard it was.

Amazing how many people know how to operate a chainsaw safely but then burn that firewood in a set-up that is a hazzard.

At least outside operating the chainsaw, they are mainly a danger only to themselves. Setting up an improperly installed wood stove puts their entire family at risk ( including little kids)

I have burned wood, (though not in TN), for 35 years and I consider myself a "tree hugger". Here's the deal. I use a modern EPA approved catalytic wood stove, properly installed. When the catalyst is ignited, you can't see or smell any smoke from the chimney. It is 80% efficient. Wood heat is "carbon neutral", so it does not contribute to global warming. You are either cutting your heat yourself, or your money goes to a hard working local bloke making a living, not some third world country loaded with terrorists. So there!

I like firewood ... I like beef ... I like to hunt & fish and also love to shoot my guns. Glad to live in Tennessee where I doubt we'll see any of them banned. There's a reason I've never left Tennessee ... it's also known as '' God's Country ''
NO SH*T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why can't you say where you live? Are you in the Witness Protection Program?

Oh i love my wood stove in the fall and winter!! Nothing like the smell of wood, and nothing warmer to heat with, in my opinion! Of course, it makes a bit of a mess with the ashes and the crumbles from the wood bark, but it's worth it... Love it when my neighbor across the field has their fire going too! I can remember sitting in my grandparents house in front of their fireplace watching the flames.. when i was just a little girl... and they both lived to be almost 90.
