Cookeville Visit
Well the plans are set, we will be driving down Friday the 9th that night we will be staying in Clarksville before driving to Nashville on Saturday. After watching my son's lacrosse game on Saturday, we will be heading to Cookeville. I have reservations at the Country Hearth Inn, they had a great deal and we won't be spending much time in the room.
We will take a drive to Center Hill lake area and hit Dale Hallow on the way home (when we leave Cookeville).
My time in Cookeville is short so is there anything I should see and where is the best food? Places don't have to be fancy, just good food. I want to stay away from the chain places because I can eat at them anytime. I'm looking for a little taste of Cookeville.
JMT suggested BobbyQ's for ribs, which I plan to do.
I'll be taking the camera along and hope to post pictures after my return.

Don't forget to try the banana pudding at Bobby Q's.
For a huge choice in local restaurants, head to downtown Cookeville, particularly West Broad in the area between the downtown post office and around the old railroad depot. There's Mauricio's (Italian), Paula's (gourmet Southern), Thomas Andrew's (also gourmet Southern), Crawdaddy's (Cajun), Taiko (Japanese), World Market (pizza and gyros), and next to World Market is a hot dog place whose name I can't remember, but they're "Detroit style hot dogs" and are awesome. And Ralph's Donuts, the best donuts you will ever put in your mouth, ever. Especially their twists. I think it's why I became diabetic, and it was worth every granule of deep-fried sugar.

Well,if you're going to Bobby Q's and haven't ever seen the Tennessee Tech campus, then you ought to see it & it's only a few blocks away!
Any of the places Boris mentioned are great too,and are also close to the campus.

The Country Inn and Suites in Cookeville is on South Jefferson Ave, off exit 287 of I-40. There's no BJ Wholesale in Cookeville, maybe you're thinking of Sam's Club. Sam's Club is behind the Country Inn and Suites.

It's fairly new, so I assume it's clean and comfortable. It's kind of at the tail end of "the strip" so you'll have to drive to go out to eat, except for KFC and a couple of convenience stores.

DON'T stay at the Country Hearth Inn! See www.tripadvisor.com. However, Baymont, Hampton Inn, Country Inn and Suites, Comfort Inn, Ramada - all those are fine. Holiday Inn Express is BRAND NEW! Say no to Alpine, Thunderbird. Super 8 and Days Inn are VERY OLD. Star Motor Inn and Knight's Inn are overrun by druggies. Keep it a newer chain motel when you stay here.
