Default Gas Prices Increasing?

Hi, folks!

Our friend in Crossville told us that this morning he paid almost $6 a gallon for gas at his regular station...what gives? Anyone else seeing this? Is he hallucinating? lol

Gas in Cookeville, TN...

@ the Kangaroo (US 70)

yesterday...3.54 regular
this morning on the way to school...4.04
on the way home from drop off (abt. 20 minutes later)...4.10

gg! I heard a rumor from my sister in Gainesville, FL that gas was expected to be over $5 a gallon today there. But, when I called her this morning, she said it was still around $4.00 gal. (the same as it was last week). Should have filled up yesterday!!!

Maybe his station was jumping the gun on speculation about the storm. Thanks for the info!

What station was that ¿ Pilot yesterday afternoon was $3.59. Shell and BP had jumped up to $3.65 yesterday.
Sounds like your friend got a hold of some of that home made wine from the wine lady....

Hurricake Ike issues. The TX refineries have shut down. It's all over the news. It's $3.99 in Maryville right now and in Knoxville although there is one place in Knoxville at $4.50.

Here in Fl they declared a state of emergency 2-3 weeks ago which allows the gas stations to set their own price with out legal problems.Kangaroo is asking people to limit fuel to 10 gallons. I would say check and see if TN has declared a state of emergency, if not I would contact the state comptrollers office or bureau of weights and measurements and report the station..... I paid $3.56 last night

I think the news stations in Knoxville were creating the problem. I got an alert from the desktop weather I subscribe to that gas prices were expected to jump by $1 or more this weekend.
It was the main story on most of the stations that night, as they talked about the pipeline from the Gulf being shut down and how some gas stations had already run out of gas.
I was very thankful I had stopped and filled the tank on the way home.

I feel strongly that the gas stations should sell what they have in their tanks currently, at the same profit. If gas prices for them go up next week, then we should see the increase. But simply increasing your profit margin to take advantage of fear should be illegal.

Just my two cents

There are gas stations out of gas. There was one guy next to me at the gas station and the back of his truck was filled with gas cans and he was filling every single one of them!

I think the state needs to step in and watch the price gouging for sure!

People are going into hysteria and making this situation a lot worse. There is no need to fill every container one has with gas like the end of the world is here. Simply make sure you have enough for one week and USE IT WISELY! Stop needless trips. Obviously people are not listening to this or Cades Cove would not be packed every day!

I did not fill up yesterday. I have a quarter of a tank in my car. I will stop on my way home for bottled water and to pay bills. I have no need to get out this weekend and there is enough gas in my car in case I have an emergency.

When some panic, the media reports it and this causes more to panic. If we stay calm, the oil companies cannot catch us in a vulnerable state and will not get the upper hand.

Just make sure you have the regular amount of gas it takes to get you to work in one week, by then the prices will be back down and if we don't buy like crazy at the high prices, they wil have no choice but to come down.
