This one might be easier to navigate.

Yes, it might be easier to navigate, but it doesn't offer the "select a community" that gives a great description of neighborhoods. I don't know the realtor, just like the site.

It does.
I gather it's not kosher to post details about agent-specific web sites here. DM me if you're interested in the details, and how to isolate the search to Tellico Village.
As far as I've seen, this is probably the best property search site, and I've been using it to scratch around Fairfield Glade for some time. Seems to be good at TV searches too.

Lenoir City is about 15 minutes north of TV. Lenoir City has WalMart, Home Depot, grocery stores, drugstores, etc. Turkey Creek is a few minutes (maybe 10) further East on the freeway and has all the big box stores you can imagine and movie theatres and more chain restaurants than you can shake a stick at. Knoxville is about 35-40 minutes from TV, almost all on the freeway.

True.
- Knoxville is less than 30 minutes away - closer than Cookeville is to FFG.
- As The Shadow says, all the big stores are closer to TV than Cookeville os from FFG
- There are Walmarts etc. nearby - closer than the Crossville WalMart is to FFG.
- In the same area as the Walmart, there's a LOT of new development going on - not sure what it is, but there are lots of new hotels, office space, and shopfront establishments. I'll bet that within a few years, TV will have most of the major stores right on its doorstep.
- There's a grocery store (Food Lion?) IN the neighborhood - compared with FFG's excellent new food store about 5 miles down Peavine.
Another thing that we liked about TV - it's neat. FFG is very 'rustic' - or if you prefer, simply scruffy - about its appearances and general upkeep. No kerbs, no streetlights, etc. TV has streetlights, some kerbs, better quality road surfaces, and a nicer overall appearance. For some reason though, TV has far smaller trees, hence the relatively few "wooded lots" that exist have a bit less privacy.
My biggest problem - my wife and I are not big fans of heat and humidity - so ...

I was surprised that it wasn't THAT humid. I hate the 90% humidity stuff in Florida and Texas. It gets hot here in Sacramento and Placerville (90's to 100's all summer long) but it's a dry heat, as they say. Even in August last year when we visited Tellico Village, it got over 90, but the humidity was more like 50%. More than Calif but less than Texas. And after watching the Tennessee weather on intellicast for about 2 years, I see that it's usually in the high 80's to low 90's in the hot summer months. I can do that. The occasional thunderstorms will be a welcome change from our hot, dry summers here.

If I may chime in here. If I had to choose between FFG & Tellico I would personally choose tellico (although that would not be my favorite). I lived in west knox for several years (Farragut) and there were always people moving from FFG closer to Knoxville. It seems like the natural "progression" of many people moving here from out of state is to start with FFG/Tellico because its a "safe" bet coming into a knew area. A few years later they get tired of that lifestyle and discover the area more.
I'm assuming you are an avid golfer which is why you have focused on these areas?
In short, choose tellico over ffg, or don't - either way, enjoy the beauty of this great place.
By the way I live in Morristown now. I found it by chance and was blown away. Good Luck!

Just stumbling across this post and I can't believe how many of us are moving to TV. I think it is great. We are hoping to get there in a year or two depending on how quick we can sell our existing home.
We have now visited twice - first time it was July and second time we came with the kids and it was August. It was HOT but no where as humid as what we deal with in New Jersey. Coming from NJ - it felt good. My husband and I thought maybe because of the mountains there was some breeze.
We did lots of driving with the kids - we started doing the tourist stuff for them - Dollywood, Gaitlinburg, etc. - but it rained the entire time we were there and since we promised the kids horseback riding in the smoky mountains, we had to drive back another day. We also took them into Knoxville twice (had to hit the Mast General Store) and, of course, to the mall.
With all the driving back and forth that we did - it really wasn't bad - Dollywood, mountains took us an hour. Knoxville 30 - 40 minutes - but all the drives went really quick because they are all mostly highway and the traffic wasn't bad at all.
There is a hospital in Lenior City and bigger ones in Knoxville (we are moving with an older parent so this was also a concern). The village has it's own fire and rescue squad. Which I hope means you get a quick response in an emergency.
We are looking for about the same as DGlenday. With kids and a parent we need bedrooms but have no problem with a nice walk out basement that can accomodate that need. I do seem to be having problem staying in the budget and finding something we can afford. Finding a resale has also been a problem because most in our budget tend to be 3 bedroom ranches with no basement. We need the basement. DM me, please, if you can offer a builder name or any suggestions.
We do own a lot in Chota and I love my location so I would prefer to build but with the RE market how it is right now we will consider a resale.
Chota was nice because it is so central. My kids can walk to the wellness center and tennis courts. Short drive down the road to the rec center and all the stores, P.O., Subway, churches, firehouse, etc. Since I can't afford the lake, being close to the rec. centers was the next best thing.
I think we should start a new post - all the people moving to TV - then we can all share the information we find.
