Let me tell you, that you will love TN, the nature, the people, the climate.
The wind blew me back to PA, but TN is my home away from home.
I am so positive, that you will find something in your job class, since TN is very much into nature and preserving it. That is DEFINATELY the right state to be looking at!
I am also very sure, that my dear and trusted friend named "hiknapster", will pop up, and offer the most sincere and straight forward advice you could wish for!
She helped me already numerous times, and she will guide you in the right direction........lol.
Good luck to you!

You two give excellent advice- wish the same could be said for all
Tennessee is not even humid- I still am thanking God I escaped Florida- I am HR manager at a medium sized call center here- most employees are escapees from Florida- young people who cant afford to pay 400k for a house.

I am glad normal people still post here. If I were a multi millionaire I would be exalting the beauty of Florida.

Since that is less than 2% of the US population- proceed with caution

We had no interstate highway and very little connection with the outside world. We had beautiful beaches that were accessible to all. We actually rode horses on the beach and were able to have bonfires on the beach at night. We rode our horses from the ranch they were kept at to the store and tied up at a hitching post outside.

We would put our canoe on the river at a dock close to the house and could stay out all day on a saturday with our fishing and snorkeling gear and not get run over by some idiot in a mega-yacht.

We used to go hunting, fishing or shooting our guns at places right near town.

Now everything thing in Florida is shopping malls, lots of traffic problems, beaches you have to pay to park at and long lines in whatever store you go into.

I loved the charm and beauty that was Florida in the 1970's. That was not that long ago.

My wife and I have purchased property in Baileyton and hope to retire there in a few years. I love Tennessee the way it is now. I hope that all of us moving there from Florida does not ruin it like Florida has been ruined.
Excellent point there...But, you know, I have the hope and faith, that TN (as well as other states) have seen the decline, the depletion of resources, the influx and insurge of all sorts of people to FL. I was informed, by a wonderful member of this forum, that TN keeps on buying land to preserve, and it is actively going. Also, from what I was informed to is the fact, that all building and infrastructures are strictly and closely monitored by the government. I am telling you....TN is unlike FL, they are actually looking "behind the glitz and shine of $$$$$
They are smart cookies there, unlike what some people might think!

sunny....ok....I have to let you and hiks know...
I finally have my husband to the point, to take a ride with me to TN, to check it out!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!
PA is not paning out at all, concerning houses (way to expensive, car insurance (in the area where we live, Hazleton, we would pay MORE then in FL!!!!!), and the job market in my husbands field (bartender/ barmanager) is virtually non-existent.
He is so disgusted, and so disappointed, that he was even thinking of moving back to FL, for heaven's sake!
OK, if you had the choice (now think people, job market, and value of house, property, and quality of life) which city would you move NEAR to , Knoxville, Nashville, or Chattanooga???
The job market will dictate everything......
Let me know your input, because we are planning a ride within the next couple of days!
Thank you girls....as usual! lol

well- If he is in restaurant business there is plenty in Washinton County-

lol- maggiekate thinks people moving to Tenn are making 19k- -how funny- I have 2 new cars. 5 acres and own my house outright- alot better than paying 4k a month in Boca to keep up with the Joneses. Sorry I have other things to do in life than live in Florida and pretend its the be all and end all.

Movin2PA- take a ride through- I dont know Knoxville as well (thats hiks area) but NE Tennessee and Kingsport is nice. Its still cool here today- sunny but no humidity~~~I thanks God I am out of the Florida heat and 400.00 month central air. They can keep it.

LOL...19K...funny...i made that when I was 16 ?
I know, that wages might be lower in TN, to a certain extend. But, the cost of living is also lower there, so it balances each other out. (Sorry, I am so SURE, I will NOT end up paying almost $3600 for HOI, and over $3000 for taxes here in TN!!!!!! NO WAY!!!!!
Like I've said...I am a "FL survivor"....and want to go back to LIVING!!!
Gave that up in FL, because I was to busy working myself to death there, to keep my house and pay for everything.
Now it's going back to basics and the quality of LIFE!
To each their own though......
